Iris or Daisy

Hi there

We are expecting a girl after 3 boys and Iris is our current favourite name to go with brothers Finn, Milo & Kit. Daisy was our girls name for ds1 and I still really love it despite it's popularity. I was just wondering which name people think goes better with our boys names.

Also open to other suggestions!

Many thanks

Iris. I have an 11 year old Iris, and it suits her more and more. So stylish and elegant (also named for Iris Murdoch!)
Daisy is sweet, but a bit dull.
It cannot be that popular, we have only met one other in 11 years.

pinkpeony for DC2 (if a girl) my list is currently Petra, Anya, Nina, Thea and Ellen. Though suspect Iris was a rare point of agreement with DH (due to his high regard for Iris Murdoch!) and this one is going to be trickier. Hey ho, still a couple of months to go.

Iris is much nicer.

And how can Iris be 'overused' when it's not in the top 100 names and Daisy is no. 20! And that doesn't even count all the Daisy- hyphenated names.

TheLaineyWayIsEssex · 12/11/2012 13:35

Iris is beautiful - my front runner if I ever had a DD.
I love its meaning too en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iris_%28mythology%29

forgetmenots · 12/11/2012 13:33

Agree Iris is lovely, Daisy too silly for me and doesn't go as well with your other DCs

VolumeOfACone · 12/11/2012 13:32

Iris. Daisy is just too young sounding for me.

DewDr0p · 12/11/2012 13:29

Iris Iris Iris. I love it.

Do you know it's derived from the Greek for rainbow? So not technically a flower name at all.

pinkpeony4 · 12/11/2012 13:27

Comeonbishbosh we obviously have identical naming taste! Which other girls names were on your list?!

Thanks to everyone else. I think Iris is a strong, yet pretty girls name that hopefully won't become too popular!

Iris.
Love that name. Think it goes well with your boys' names, which are fab by the way.

CharlieBoo · 11/11/2012 21:41

So many prettier names out there than Iris.

Daisy every time.

Fifi2406 · 11/11/2012 21:34

Iris

Limelight · 11/11/2012 21:32

Both are lovely. I'd say Iris was more unusual and edgier which would appeal to me.

comeonbishbosh · 11/11/2012 21:25

We have an Iris so can recommend :) I love it (and don't generally like flower names, so personally wouldn't go for Daisy). just be prepared to be given a lot of purple clothing!
Amazingly, all of yr sons names are on my list for DC2!

Dogsmom · 11/11/2012 18:18

Iris is a name for life, Daisy is a name for childhood or a bichon frise.

FriggFRIGG · 11/11/2012 17:45

Iris!

susiedaisy · 11/11/2012 17:08

Daisy

pinkpeony4 · 11/11/2012 17:07

Thanks everyone! Iris is our current front runner I think. I never thought girls names would be so hard!

Iris is beautiful

BikeRunSki · 10/11/2012 22:09

Iris - proper name-for-life
Daisy - childish, cutesy nn for Margaret

missingmymarbles · 10/11/2012 22:01

I love Iris. DH vetoed.

telsa · 10/11/2012 21:42

Daisy for sure, so much prettier. Iris is dull and overused.

TessOfTheBaublevilles · 10/11/2012 20:17

Iris.

I am so bored of Daisy.

Frikadellen · 10/11/2012 18:52

I prefeer Daisy personally but for your boys names for a girl if you want a flower name I would go with Tansy.

Alisvolatpropiis · 10/11/2012 18:38

Iris fits better with your sons names I think. I find Daisy to be a bit young sounding, same with Poppy.

Geargrinder · 10/11/2012 18:34
