Isabelle?

We are expecting DD2 - DD1 is called Aurelia, for a lovely, personal, romantic reason.

For this one, we both really like the name Isabelle. I don't love it like I love Aurelia (the name, not the DD!) but it seems to 'fit', IYKWIM.

I am worried that it is:
A) too popular?
B) not as special as DD1's name?
C) also the name of an ex GF of DH's. I am not bothered by this, but he is worried that it could be misconstrued by other people who knew them as a couple? I think she seemed like a fairly nice person and am unfussed, but it just seems unfortunate.

If you think we shouldn't go with Isabelle, any other suggestions? I love Juliette but a friend is calling her very long-awaited DD it and I couldn't use it.

Thanks!

Valentina

Desiree - bit out there i know, but i think it's a lovely name

Giselle

Anastasia

Georgiana

Fabienne

Saskia

Soraya

Lucia

Marianne or Marianna

Aurelia is lovely. hope you find one you love as much.

JuliaFlyte · 26/10/2012 20:01

Mirabelle is top of my list if I have another dd.

I think Aurelia and Isabella sound beautiful together

AlexanderS · 26/10/2012 19:57

Hmm...what about Christabel? (Or Christabelle or Christobel?).

The 'belle' ending does complement Aurelia. Another possibility is Rosabel.

pipoca · 26/10/2012 19:43

Elisa?

Marcheline · 26/10/2012 15:55

I really like:

Seren (have suggesed as DH's dad was Welsh, but it got a 'meh' response)
Jemima (have suggested, was shot down)
Lorelai
Callista (suggested, shot down)
Marcheline (natch!)
Mirabelle

And DH loved Natalia but I wasn't sure...

We should have stuck wth one DC!

But thanks for so many fab suggestions, feel a bit teary at the response from everyone (but that is pregnancy hormones).

What about Arianna or is that too similar to Aurelia? Marianna perhaps?

badtime · 26/10/2012 13:03

I like Aurelia, so here are some other names I like (skipping ones like Claudia or Cordelia or Rowena which might be too similar):

Constance
Elinor
Vivien
Miranda
Callisto/a

Jemima?

BlueSuedeWitchesHat · 25/10/2012 23:53

My first thought when I read your OP was Vivienne, but I see It's already been suggested.

If you can't have Juliette, how about Gulietta- the proper Italian version?

Felicitywascold · 25/10/2012 23:48

At the risk of sounding facetious, I think Felicity and Aurelia sound nice together,

Or Natalia?

Love love your DD's name, strong yet feminine.

What about Marina or Cosima?

Springforward · 25/10/2012 21:21

Isobel is lovely, IMHO.

Viviennemary · 25/10/2012 21:18

I really like Isabelle but like Isabella better.

Marcheline · 25/10/2012 21:17

RLBG - both Ariadne and Hermione sit really badly with me. Something about the way the letters are arranged, maybe?

I know what you mean about alliterative siblings; I love Allegra, so much, but wouldn't use it because we already have an A girl!

Sorry Molotov, totally ignored you! DD2 isn't due fir another 15 weeks (ish) but I really want to sort out the name so that DD1 can get used to it.

I am doing everything I can to help her adjust to having a baby sister, this is part of my master plan . But it may not work, as naming DD2 is HARD!

I've got an Isobel, so am biased but I think it's lovely. We didn't know any when we named her and she's a teenager now but it has got v popular. I also love Isolde and Ishbel.

Am not overfond of alliterative siblings but I also really like Ariadne and it has a similar ring to Aurelia. You might also like Hermione.

I have an Isobel and while I still love it, they really are everywhere.

Marcheline · 25/10/2012 21:09

Ali I personally don't think it is outlandish, but it is a bit different to any other toddlers / babies we know. We know a lot of Emma/Jessica/Mollys - know what I mean? They are lovely names, btw.

If you like Aurelia, use it! I am so glad we went with it for DD, it is utterly perfect for her.
