DC1 is a boy so this is obviously a bit of an issue......

We found it much easier to pick a girl's name pre 20 week scan. But now we're having a DS and can't agree on a name at all

I like Rory. It's the only boys' name I really love. However, DH hates it. I also like Innes but not as much as Rory. DH hates that too. Basically, he hates every Scottish name I suggest as they sound "weird" to him. I suggested Charlie but DH vetoed that as it is the name of an ex of mine.

DH likes William. I hate that and also it's his Dad's name. I'm happy to have it as a middle name but not a first. Also, I want DS to have his own name not be named after family members as a first name.

DH also like Richard -I hate that too.

We can "compromise" on Guy and James but I don't really love either name and now the time is getting closer, I don't really want DS to have a name that I don't love. Jack is also an option. However, we would probably want it to be a shortened version of John or Jonathan. That is DH's name and I think we would sound ridiculous - like we thought we were the Kennedys or similar dynastic family. DH would luuuurve DS to be named after him though as it appeals to his megalomania Wink Grin. Also, I know that Jack is very popular so that puts me of.

I've got a baby name book and am going through it again but can you just suggest your favourite names to me? I'm just hoping that something pops out that I might have missed!

I love the name Rory (if DC3 is a boy that's what he's going to be called). I would say keep on at him, but I know that it's not fair really to use a name the other parent hates.

My favourite boys name is Nicholas (DS's name), but I also like Patrick and Sean. Any good for you?

What about James shortened to Jack?

My favourite Scottish boys names are Ossian (pronounced Osh-an) and Inigo, but I'm guessing your DH will think them too weird? Grin

I read 8 baby names books while pregnant last time! And rejected every single name in all of them!

We found a name we both love eventually (DS was one day old).

Of the eight books I read, this was by far and away the best baby name book IMO.

Rowan is nice. DH has already vetoed that though -on the basis it is a "girl's" name. He is normally very reasonable and we have fairly similar taste so I didn't think we'd have such diametrically opposite taste!

I do like Jamie and would shorten James to Jamie. However, DH just advised that he doesn't like Jamie. Just James Hmm Confused

jamie is my favourite from your compromise list.

Rory is lovely, unless he cannot say his Rs.
