What's your mum called?

Thinking about the cyclical nature of names - those that I used to think of as awful 'granny names' when I was younger - Florence, Edith, Mabel etc - are wildly popular now.

I wonder what the equivalent names will be for our grandchildren and great-grandchildren?

My mum is called Christine (I am in my mid 30s).

Flora - tres bang on trend these days.

I wanted to call dd Flora after my mum who died before she was born, but dh vetoed it.

Was she born in WWII? Lots of Elizabeths and Margarets then.

Mum is Jennifer (Jen) and MIL was Anne-Marie (I'm 33). My grans were Florence and Edith so would be back in fashion!

Janet, she would have been 70 in a month if she were still alive.

MIL also Janet, also almost 70.

Funnily enough both dh's grandmothers were Dorothys.

It's a family tradition to marry someone whose mother has the same name as your own Grin

My mum is Vivien (late 60's, born in 1945). Mil is Mary (early 60's, born in 1950).

I'm Yvette born 1970!

DM is Agnes with an accent on e I can't do! so a soft G. She is not English.

DM is Jean, same as her mum. Luckily she decided not to continue the tradition with me. I'm mid forties, she's almost 70.

DMIL is Elizabeth, which I like, but we didn't want to cause jealousies by calling either DD after living relatives.

Not saying Wink but strangely if she's Hillary Diana, Mil is Diana Hillary, and they were born in the same year.

My mum is called Else (pronounced El-Sah). My MIL is called Vivienne. If I have a girl I would like to call her Amelia which is OH's grandmothers name.
