Girls names that can be shortened to boys names...

I can only think of 2, can you think of anymore?

Charlotte - Charlie
Antonia - Toni

I was a huge tomboy when I was growing up and hated my girly name. I'd like to give my daughter an option to shorten her name if she wants to but I'm not particularly keen on either of the names above. Can you help?

Belinda shortened to Billie..

bluehorizon · 11/10/2012 14:22

Lee can be male or female. Ray I think the same (Ray Eames was female), or can be spelled Rae for a girl.

steppemum · 11/10/2012 14:21

only got my pedant's hat on because it is a family name, 4 generations of them here! (middle names)

Bunbaker · 11/10/2012 14:18

"BTW to the perosn who suggested Frances as a unisex name up thread:

Frances is the girls version
Francis is the boys version "

That was me. I know that and should have put both spellings. Also Lesley/Leslie. It is just when the names are said aloud they sound the same.

miaowmix · 11/10/2012 14:15

That wasn't to me though, was it , so please ignore my excessive pedantry Blush

miaowmix · 11/10/2012 14:14

Being even more pedantic, I suggested Frances as a girl's name that can be shortened to Frank, a boy's.
I know that Francis is a boy's name.

SunshineOutdoors · 11/10/2012 14:11

X post steppemum

SunshineOutdoors · 11/10/2012 14:10

Pedantic but Frances (girl) is Francis if a boy.

steppemum · 11/10/2012 14:09

BTW to the perosn who suggested Frances as a unisex name up thread:

Frances is the girls version
Francis is the boys version

gazzalw · 11/10/2012 14:06

Ray for Rachel too

Alltheflowers · 11/10/2012 14:04

Oops just seen someone already came up with that one.

How about Stevie? I quite like that name

Alltheflowers · 11/10/2012 14:03

Roberta - Bertie

FireOverBabylon · 11/10/2012 14:00

Claudia, shortened to Claude?

Bibblebobbleparsnip · 11/10/2012 13:47

I have a Georgia that's shortened to Georgie most of the time-but she also gets George and Gigi. Seem to be a few Georgias/Georginas born recently...

bigbluebump · 11/10/2012 13:24

Andrea - Andy
Stephanie - Stevie
Thomasina - Tommy
Theodora - Teddy (Robbie Williams's daughter is this, I think)
Maxine/Maximiliana - Max
Josephine - Joe

Bunbaker · 11/10/2012 13:21

Philomena or Philippa - Phil
Nigella - Nige
Adrienne - Ade

And then you have names that can be either - Lesley, Frances, Hilary, Vivian

AlfieBear87 · 11/10/2012 13:19

Wow loads of good suggestions - I'm obviously very unimaginative!

seeker - to be honest no, that line of thought has never occurred to me.

Thanks everyone
