Just discovered the twins we're expecting next year are both boys!

DH and I are stuck. He's vetoed Alexander and I'm vetoing William
(for Windsorish reasons!)

Already have a DS and DD. Naming prefs are for classic, formal names with plenty of decent nickname potential.

Want DCs to be able to adapt their name to suit rather than be defined by our tastes IYSWIM.

Has anyone said Mrs Simpson?

Teds77 · 11/10/2012 20:26

Edward is my fave name buy we couldn't use for my twin boy. He's Matthew which we love. Other names we liked were Stephen, Robert, Stanley, Ivan and Peter. My DB is Nicholas otherwise we might have considered that too.

DeadQODy · 11/10/2012 20:11

Edward and Jacob

Duh!

IAmLouisWalsh · 11/10/2012 20:06

George and Edward?

Pixieonthemoor · 11/10/2012 20:04

Have no idea why but as soon as I read your op the name Austen popped straight into my head. Edward and Austen?

Bingdweller · 07/10/2012 21:08

Edward & Theo gets my vote!

Way2Go · 07/10/2012 20:58

No to Ed and Fred. Confused

bigboobsatlast · 07/10/2012 19:20

I have twin boys called Michael and Edward! Obviously I love these names together because I chose them! Congratulations on your twin pregnancy

RooibosWithMilk · 07/10/2012 19:13

Thomas means 'twin'. So that makes sense!

FarrowAndBollock · 07/10/2012 19:01

Edward and Benjamin
Edward and Charles (Charlie)
Edward and Alfred/Frederick (Alfie or Freddie)
Edward and Tobias (Toby)

gazzalw · 07/10/2012 09:35

Lots of these are really lovely combinations of names. Edward is a really strong and timeless name and would have been our first choice had it not been for a significant Edward amongst DW's romantic liaisons!

Think another vowel-starting first name for the other twin would work really well... - you could go down the Anglo-Saxon route and have an Alfred/Athelstan....? Arthur and Alexander work well too! Sorry getting carried away now!

thetigerwhocametoteax · 06/10/2012 21:22

Arthur? - we have an Edward and an Arthur Grin

Arabellasmella · 06/10/2012 21:18

Francis, Laurence, Thomas?
I know some real life twins called Max and Edward. They are 16 and cool dudes!

cherrynapper · 04/10/2012 16:03

Not Jacob - Edward vs Jacob from the Twilight series.

I know an Edward and Dominic

I like Robert, Ben, Charlie and Luke.

minipie · 04/10/2012 15:01

I'd avoid Frederick - Ed and Fred

I think Theodore is ok though, if you call him Theo it's unlikely that people will use Teddy

Edward & Dominic
Edward & James
Edward & Julian
Edward & Justin
Edward & Benjamin
Edward & Felix
Edward & Oliver
Edward & Lawrence/Laurence
Edward & Max
Edward & Daniel
Edward & Patrick
Edward & Lucas

(some of these are repeats!)

gazzalw · 04/10/2012 11:03

Know a family with an Edward, James, Paul, Peter and Johnny!

shoppingtrolley · 04/10/2012 10:57

Edward and Oscar.
Edward and Robert.

bethjoanne · 04/10/2012 10:36

robert

IWipeArses · 04/10/2012 10:32

Not Theodore. Teddy and Teddy?

gazzalw · 04/10/2012 10:30

Alexander, Alfred, Edmund, William, (don't do Theodore as some people might use Teddy which is an Edward diminutive too), Henry, Christopher (Kit for short), Nicholas

bethjoanne · 04/10/2012 10:27

timothy-tim

bethjoanne · 04/10/2012 10:27

matthew,alastair ,benjamin,charles ,andrew,phillip,peter,george,samuel,harrison,joseph.
not keen on nicholas /nicker less.

PrunellaDeVille · 03/10/2012 23:26

Edward & Thomas - ted & tom
Edward & Stanley - ted & stan

ShesADreamer · 03/10/2012 23:22

Wow! Went for a bath and returned to such riches! Thank you.

Two of the most popular suggestions are already taken by DH and DS1 so you're all definitely on the right lines - very impressive.

Nicholas and David are very close friends, although I like both names, and Christopher is my DBil!

Like Theodore (Theo, not Teddy, obv), Andrew, Frederick, Henry and Thomas (although the last two are a bit Rev Awdry with Edward).

Thank you all so much, great suggestions. Will run things by DH later as he's glued to evil Savile expose ATM.
