I LOVE Thora so much I actually wish it was my name - however didn't name DD that because we had something lined up that we both loved.

What about Myrtle, Wilhelmina and Queenie? I love Queenie.

Granny names are definitely making a comeback. I like them, they are warm, easily pronounced and unpretentious.

I've referred to a trend for Granny names in Ds's nursery as "Coronation Street" names. We know an Alma, Elsie, Frieda, Vera and, for grandad names, a Stanley. I love Vera, because my favourite author is Vera Brittain.

My DD is called Ada, after my great-great-grandmother (b.1886), just ADORE the name, and we've always had a family naming tradition :)

There is a place in NE Scotland called Maud. The locals pronounce it something like Mad. I can't see it making a comeback here!

Neither will Pearl which is pronounced Peril in doric.
