Iris or Jemima, wasn't Hamble the scary doll in playschool?

sirhandel · 16/09/2012 07:51

Iris. Not keen on the other two.

mummytowillow · 15/09/2012 13:31

Iris its my nans name and she's 92!

Lovely!

Becky99 · 14/09/2012 21:26

LexieSinclair · 14/09/2012 20:43

Another vote for Iris.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/09/2012 20:39

None of them really, sorry - but Iris is the best of the three. Really dislike Octavia.

birdofthenorth · 14/09/2012 20:38

Iris.

FelicitywasSarca · 13/09/2012 14:22

MadBus Grin it is a bit of a marmite name, I wouldn't choose it because my family would have exactly your reaction.

But all the Jemimas I have met (teacher) have been sparky, funny and popular with their peers. And I really like how it sounds/looks and many of the NNs.

Pernickety · 13/09/2012 09:41

I've only liked it since I met one. i've met two now. The name starts to sound different when you know someone called it.

MadBusLady · 11/09/2012 20:43

Jemima's HORRIBLE, what's wrong with you all?? It's a Puddleduck or a boring doll! Who'd be either of them?

Totally Marmite name (just with a very small "hate" contingent apparently Blush)

LynetteScavo · 11/09/2012 20:37

Jemima

AgathaTrunchbull · 11/09/2012 20:36

Octavia's lovely and does not need shortening.

necoma · 11/09/2012 18:24

Jemima is stunning

lottiegarbanzo · 11/09/2012 17:41

Iris or Jemima

Pernickety · 11/09/2012 15:01

jemima

EssieW · 11/09/2012 10:47

Jemima

MagdalenaAlec · 11/09/2012 10:41

Iris (mn Martha or Elizabeth) and Octavia (mn Louise) were high on my list and Jemima would have been too if it was not odd in France.
They are very different though: Iris is "punchy" and Octavia is more feminine.

Between the two I would have chosen Iris because Octavia is a bit of a chavvy name in the US.

Sorry, I am not being helpful here :o (and DD ended up with a different name...)

Demelzajane · 11/09/2012 10:39

Jemima definitely. I wanted that after Jemima Puddle Duck - I'm a huge Beatrix Potter fan but OH said a definite NO!!

TittyWhistles · 11/09/2012 10:38

Octavia doesn't trip off the tongue, and what would you shorten it to?

Jemima is a bit ditsy but Iris is lovely

telsa · 11/09/2012 10:35

I love Jemima. It is beautiful and has potential for lovely nns. Gem, Mimi! Mimey. Iris is rather dull in my opinion and reminds me of eyeballs. Octavian makes me think of 8, so if there were some conection to 8 it would fit.

remaincalm · 11/09/2012 08:45

Jemima

mathanxiety · 11/09/2012 04:11

Jemima -- love

Iris/Octavia -- don't really like either

messtins · 11/09/2012 03:59

Iris.

emmyloo2 · 11/09/2012 03:52

Iris for sure.

Can't stand Jemima - it's the doll from playschool.

Octavia is a bit OTT.

Iris is just lovely!
