Which do you prefer and why? Thank you, and any suggestions of similar names gratefully received.

I am considering Iris which I think is beautiful. I think it will gain in popularity but would be very surprised if it ended up top ten. I think it's more of an acquired taste than Ava, Lily, Amelia etc so unlikely to megaboom. Unless several celebs have an Iris in the next few years I guess!

QueLinda · 11/09/2012 10:08

Thank you for the feedback. I think I have always preferred Iris out of the three but Emphaticmaybe has just articulated why I think I'm hesitating. Is it the next Lily?

I wonder if I'm just ahead of the curve and in 5 years it'll be top ten... I know not the end of the world but I do want to stay out of the top 100 if possible (Iris number 147 in the last stats)

Iris is beautiful.
Erica is lovely and a bit different.

Really don't like Bridget. Sorry.

maddiemostmerry · 10/09/2012 20:41

Iris, by far. How about Irina? Or Eibhlis?

I am so old that Erica makes me think of Erica Roe(streaker)

Bridget just doesn't sound very nice.

Bue · 10/09/2012 20:39

Erica, because it's not trendy and it was my grandmother's name.

Iris is beautiful but popular. Think it's having a 'moment' right now.

Bridget I am neutral on.

numbertaker · 10/09/2012 20:37

They are all quite hard names, but I like Iris, not the other too. I went to college with a biatch called Erica. Bridget is to Bridget Jones, very middle class, and it feels like a old ladies name.

Irene, I know a couple of Irenes and they both dont like thier names.

FreddieMercuryforQueen · 10/09/2012 20:34

Love Bridget, was Ds's name if he'd been a DD.

TudorJess · 10/09/2012 19:33

Erica

Emphaticmaybe · 10/09/2012 19:32

I think Iris is lovely too, but, and this may not bother you at all, don't you get the feeling that along wiith Eva, you won't be able to move in some areas without falling over one?

I say this as someone who picked rather unusual names at the time for her DDs and later realised that they were part of an increasingly popular 90s trend. Still love them - just turned out that lots of other people loved them too. I get the same feeling about Iris.

tigrou · 10/09/2012 19:17

Iris, Iris, Iris

MoonHare · 10/09/2012 18:07

In order of preference:
Iris - love this wish we could use it but we can't, pretty but strong at the same time
Bridget - I've always liked this name
Erica - not sure, the sound is a bit like a hiccup to me....!

Beamur · 10/09/2012 18:05

I love Iris, think Bridget is a real character name and like it a lot. Erica I'm less keen on (would you consider Heather as an alternative being the common name for 'erica' the plant)

minipie · 10/09/2012 18:02

I like Bridget and Iris, not keen on Erica (feminised boy's name)

Perhaps Bridie as softer version of Bridget?

CommunistLegoBloc · 10/09/2012 17:56

Iris, dislike the other two but like this a lot.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 10/09/2012 17:56

Iris - lovely
Erica - not sure. On principal I like it, but can't get past Eric, which I don't like. Bit Like Alana and Alan Confused
Bridget - no, cos I don't like the nn Bridge.

I like Iris best of the three. I think it sounds the prettiest.

Heather means the same as Erica (although I'm not sure about Heather either. My dad was going to be called Heather if he'd been a girl)

Pochemuchka · 10/09/2012 17:50

Iris and Bridget.

Not keen on Erica.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 10/09/2012 17:50

Erica
Iris
Bridget

The only I would consider using is Erica.

Ihatepeas · 10/09/2012 17:48

I love Iris and Erica! Gorgeous!
Really not keen on bridget.. Sorry!

blondieminx · 10/09/2012 17:47

I like Iris and Erica (in that order) but Bridget always sounds a bit harsh to my ears somehow.

What will the middle name be?

worldcitizen · 10/09/2012 17:47

Iris - light, fresh, timeless

Erica - very bad associations, I am not saying why, as some might get offended

Bridget - okay feel neutral about it

CatKitson · 10/09/2012 17:46

Iris is lovely!

AThingInYourLife · 10/09/2012 17:41

Iris
Bridget
Erica

in that order.

Good names all :)

MrsJohnDeere · 10/09/2012 17:34

Like them all, but love Iris most of all.
