DH and I can't decide which we like best...both are really pretty and our final choice.

Linnet seems to be the name du jour. nice though. Nowt special.

Delia is cool. Dahlia is cooler.

Vulgar · 15/09/2012 20:35

Linnet is gorgeous!

Can't believe there are so many Children of Green Knowe fans out there!

schplappo · 15/09/2012 20:28

I know a Linnet and she is lovely. Gets shortened to Linnie which is also lovely. Much prefer it to Delia.

merrymouse · 15/09/2012 15:18

I would go for Delia.

I don't see any problems with cookery because by the time your DD is grown up I don't think Delia Smith will be very high profile. (And there are worse people to be associated with)

Mylittlepuds · 15/09/2012 15:10

Oh God I can't tell you! Look it up online.

TheTermagantToaster · 15/09/2012 13:27

Linnet
Larch
Sorrel

All beeYOOtiful.

IHeartKingThistle · 15/09/2012 13:25

Eh? What's a Winnet? Confused

Mylittlepuds · 15/09/2012 13:23

But what about if Linnet gets called Linnet the Winnet?!

saffronwblue · 13/09/2012 11:11

Love Linnet but nickname Lin is very dull.

poppy283 · 13/09/2012 08:34

Minty - I just don't like it! It doesn't sound like a name to me, let alone a girl's name. Makes me think of rennet, limpet, lichen.

Minty82 · 12/09/2012 09:13

Stella - not Toseland then? Wink
Poppy - why is it 'not a nice thing to call a baby'? Is there some unfortunate overtone the rest of us aren't getting, or do you just not like it?

peggyblackett · 12/09/2012 08:52

Linnet. Gorgeous!

StellaNova · 12/09/2012 08:50

Linnet is lovely, yet another Green Knowe fan here. I was trying to think of another girl's name form the series, but the grandmother is called Linnet too I think, isn't she? Oh, there's Susan I suppose.

I have an Alexander, partly because of that book.

EdithWeston · 12/09/2012 06:55

Linnet - despite making me think of the main murder victim in Death On The Nile!

poppy283 · 12/09/2012 06:46

Linnet?? Sorry that's not a nice thing to call a baby, book or no book.

Delia gets my vote.

Mum8 · 11/09/2012 23:37

I like Delia, feminine and sweet!

AlwaysHoldingOnToStars · 11/09/2012 21:21

Linnet. Green Knowe fan here too!

Delia is ok, but it makes me think of Delia Smith too much.

HereBenson · 11/09/2012 19:49

The only Delia I know is a very miserable dinner lady. Linnet is lovely.

MortaIWombat · 10/09/2012 22:30

Looks lovely. Wonderful Green Knowe connotations. But just sounds a bit meh.

Linnet. Innit?

How about Corinna? Grin

Sossiges · 10/09/2012 22:18

Linnet's a lovely name. It was on my shortlist for DD.

snigger · 10/09/2012 22:11

Songbirds rock.

snigger · 10/09/2012 22:09

Love Linnet.

clabsyqueen · 10/09/2012 22:09

Both terrible in my opinion. Sorry!

mrsXsweet · 10/09/2012 22:07

Delia was our first choice for a girl, I love it! We're having a boy and really struggling with names. I think Delia is really elegant, a toddler can be dilly, a teen can be Lia (although I'm less keen on this).

Twonker · 10/09/2012 20:36

Or cordelia
