Dido or Hero?

Or anything similar. I really love Dido, though is it really too close to the word Dildo?

I quite like Dido, but prefer it as a nickname for Dinah/Diana. Not a fan of Hero; just gets confusing as it's a girls name in terms of literary precedence, but a male term...

That's a good point about having to be v. confident to carry off Hero LadyMargolotta and I'm quite shy so I should knock Hero off the list.

Both horribly pretentious and Dido will always be too close to Dildo.

Yes it's for a girl. I did prefer Hera to Hero but i've been told the correct pronunciation of Hera is Hair-a not Here-a so I'm not keen anymore.

Not sure about Dido or Hero. Hero is prettier but requires a very confident child to pull off.

What about Pheadra or Minerva.

Is this for a girl? Both are girls names (Dido and Aeneas, and Much Ado About Nothing).

How about Isolde (keeping in the opera theme), or Hera (it's suggested that's where Hero came from).

Not keen on either, but if I had to choose one of the two it would be Hero as he would be called Dildo by his friends (and enemies) for all of his life.
