I once saw heavily pregant lady and overheard chatting to her friend about names she liked: One of the names was Danger for a boy and Ocean for a girl!

NellyJob · 01/09/2012 10:26

well it doesnt deserve to be lumped in with Ellie Mae and Braydon Jae any more than the lovely Mercedes.

NellyJob · 01/09/2012 10:25

Achilles is a superb name.

NotQuitePerfect · 01/09/2012 10:23

There was a child on Big Fat Gypsy Weddings called Nangirl. Strange.

MrsHelsBels74 · 01/09/2012 10:18

Am pretty sure I saw the name we've chosen for our soon to arrive son on this thread. Ah well, it won't change our mind.

HorryWinwood · 01/09/2012 06:59

I know of a little boy called Shogun. SIL friend named her daughter Disney and my Aunt had dealings with a girl named Snow White.

BellaOfTheBalls · 01/09/2012 06:41

My own name and my NN appear on here.

Bilbo. Chosen by his older sibling.
Braydon-Jae
Clover
McKaylah (spelled like that)

I work in recruitment and recently employed someone with the middle name Achilles.

Mothership4two · 01/09/2012 05:49

omg what horrid examples! Still reeling from Libra! Angel Gabriel is a joke surely. and Hash: Hash! There is a little girl at a local primary school called Jezebel - how mean must her parents be!

mathanxiety · 01/09/2012 02:45

Sure it wasn't Leif?

Mercedes means mercies and is derived from Santa Maria de las Mercedes, just as Dolores is derived from Maria de los Dolores. It is a name originally related to devotion to Mary and quite a 'Catholic' thing.

LilQueenie · 01/09/2012 01:06

Aramis is not just the name of an aftershave. Hmm

apachepony · 01/09/2012 01:03

Yes, was going to stick up for mercedes too, classic Spanish name!

5madthings · 01/09/2012 00:55

pookey i had felicity on my list for dd. i love it but dp said no :(

NellyJob · 01/09/2012 00:54

Mercedes is a beautiful girls' name...

pookey · 01/09/2012 00:52

quite like tallulah and bud as middle names, but my dd's middle name is felicity and people hate it! J is usually Jay - short for James and or jason not that unusual.

spiderlight · 01/09/2012 00:51

Mercédès was actually a girl's name long, long before it was a car: it's a traditional Spanish name, I believe, and the designer of the first Mercedes car named it after his daughter.

xmasevebundle · 01/09/2012 00:42

My ex wanted car names for the child. Ford for a boy and Mercedes for a girl.

In american there is girls called mercedes and on teen mom there is a BENTLEYHmm

Dimples - see the 'Daily Record' people like this do exist

Chlamydia (so I heard) 'it sounds posh'...

Mercedes - heard with my own ears in a Travel Agent

EcoLady · 01/09/2012 00:28

'Leaf' reminds me that I met a little boy called Oak once. He was 3. He had long blonde dreadlocks and very 'alternative' parents. That was 20+ years ago... I wonder what he's up to now?

BillyBollyBandy · 31/08/2012 23:52

Leaf could be Leif which is a scandanavian name I think?

Betsy-Beau
Violet Lily - like both names but together they sound like "violently"!!
Macy - Rae - i asked like the shop, no the singer apparently Blush

Arion · 31/08/2012 23:42

Heard in a park, siblings, India, China and Asia!

BigHairyFlowers · 31/08/2012 23:36

That's what I do Fanjo - never once made it onto one of these threads dagnabbit.

How much louder do I have to shout 'Oi! Sausage! C'mere!!' before you people bloody take any notice of me??

FanjoPingpong · 31/08/2012 23:28

I do hope that when people hear me talking to my niece, they come straight on here and say "There's a little girl (~3) called Pickle! It's her actual name!" as if it's true just because it's how you heard me addressing her.

I plan to shout very silly names at my own children in supermarkets.

Gymrod · 31/08/2012 19:58

Rocha!! And also knew a bambi :o

almapudden · 31/08/2012 16:50

PG Wodehouse's name was Pelham Greville, anychocs.

I was at school with a boy called Meriadoc. It was about the time that the first Lord of the Rings film came out, too!

crackcrackcrak · 31/08/2012 15:25
