Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sometimessunshine · 30/08/2012 14:24

At a baby group I attended there were a few names that made me Grin
Bird
Zuzu
Blaze
They are all girls names.

McKayz · 30/08/2012 14:20

I'm very tempted by Lanesra Grin

Someone I used to work with has a daughter called Elland. After the Leeds United ground.

crabb · 30/08/2012 14:19

Can we please acknowledge that Levi is a Biblical name and long pre-dates the jeans brand?

TheMonster · 30/08/2012 14:17

Bluesuedestilletto, are you in west yorks? I know of an mj too.

TequilaMockinBird · 30/08/2012 14:16

Jedi. A beautiful baby girl too.

DrSeuss · 30/08/2012 14:16

A niece, even.
Another friend has a niece called Beau. As a French teacher, I just had to bite my tongue.

Cherrypieplum · 30/08/2012 14:15

Triplets Costa, Della and Sol
Darth!
Charisma

DrSeuss · 30/08/2012 14:13

Friend's new neice is Ebony. Child is milk white. Am I the only one to find this odd?

TunaPastaBake · 30/08/2012 14:03

I really cringe at

Levi

Rocco

sorry Blush

Fairyloo · 30/08/2012 13:59

Tequila

5yr old child at school, how did they think this was ok?

JustSpiro · 30/08/2012 13:58

Taking away the fact it's Arsenal spelt backwards for a moment, I'm not sure if I think Lanestra is quite pretty or sounds like a contraceptive pill.

DH was nearly a Chad but ended up with a very average, common name thanks to MIL's intervention! Grin

HappyOrchid · 30/08/2012 13:47

When I worked in the USA I was served by a lady with the name badge Tiasia.
I puzzled for ages on how to pronounce it & in the end I asked.

Tie-Asia she replied looking at me like I was a nutter.

HappyOrchid · 30/08/2012 13:45

I know several kids (some teens now) with unusual names that at first I have gone WTF, but now I don't really notice.

Chad
Ace
Horatio
twins called Summer and Storm, both nice names, but together?
A girl called Ryan

I'm not keen on old fashioned names such as Elsie or Mabel or old mens names with 'ie' added on the end such as:

Alfie, Reggie, Ronnie, Lennie

I really dislike alternative spellings, if you want to call your child Tequila, then fine, but at least know how it's spelled.

HappyJoyful · 30/08/2012 13:35

Lanesra... ok, so it was a middle name - Dad was an Arsenal fan.

Jordanna.

candytuft63 · 30/08/2012 13:19

Ebonee and Destinee
Paditta

NK2b1f2 · 30/08/2012 13:11

Dolly

alemci · 30/08/2012 13:10

re Franks

was there Dweezil Zapper or did i make that up

shockers · 30/08/2012 13:08

Years ago a lady proudly introduced her daughter to me as Chantellamy. I must have looked a bit bemused as she went on to explain that she couldn't decide between Chantelle and Amy, so she went for both.

That child will be in her late 20's now, I wonder if she still goes by her full title....

I knew a girl who named her daughter Ray, which should be lovely (sunlight), but it reminds me of men in their 60's.

alemci · 30/08/2012 13:08

i remember someone's dad being called Corky. his dd seemed to think that was his real name.

nipersvest · 30/08/2012 12:55

i also know of an aqua (wonders if it's the same one!)

once heard a woman shout for her daughter called 'dream' in river island changing rooms

GracieGirl · 30/08/2012 12:55

I just cringe every time I hear Melena (spelt lots of ways).
I'm a nurse. That is medical term I use daily at work to describe foul smelling, black, tarry faeces (from part digested blood in digestive system). It's just NOT right to call a child that.

Tinyfeetbiggob · 30/08/2012 12:53

Flamingo, Bono

holeinone · 30/08/2012 12:52

Michael and his sister Sarah are absolutely awful names IMHO

Caerlaverock · 30/08/2012 12:51

Ha xmasevesbundle I came on this thread to say 'denim' how odd.

Are you in Scotland?

MrsApplepants · 30/08/2012 12:46

Little girl called Peanut. Seriously. Not a nickname.
