Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
drjohnsonscat · 30/08/2012 15:22

ok mathanxiety, I'm going to say it again:

Crutcher Grin

mathanxiety · 30/08/2012 15:19

Bronze, I don't see a whole lot wrong with a good few names here either. Apart from Pebbles and a few other corkers.

bronzeMedal · 30/08/2012 15:18

Spikes parents are buffy fans surely

TunaPastaBake · 30/08/2012 15:15

Spike ! well nowadays dogs have human names so vice versa each to their own

LKirk · 30/08/2012 15:12

Oh and a baby boy at a baby group called Spike...surely a dog's name not a child's?!

CaptainHetty · 30/08/2012 15:10

I'm going to hazard a guess I'm not the first person to point this out, OP, but Ivy does not mean 'poison'. I don't think poison ivy is even related to the actual ivy plant, at all, is it? Hmm

My son went to nursery with sisters called Storm and Breeze. Also a girl called Precious, though I actually quite like that as a name, it really suited her.

TunaPastaBake · 30/08/2012 15:10

''Levi is a Biblical name and long pre-dates the jeans brand'' - I still cringe at it Grin

nochipsthanks · 30/08/2012 15:09

sisters (not twins) called Harmony and Melody. Their older sister was Jane.

I heard tell on one of these threads of an Emporia and Euphoria.

As for Mnetters always thinking their kids are going to be high court judges or lawyers- for our family it would make a change if we were on that side of the bench for once! Grin

no, joke.

I have heard of a Liberty Belle too, and also of a Skye Blue. Cannot independently verify though.

If I had my way, one of ours would have been Isis. Love that name.

Frontpaw · 30/08/2012 15:08

Parents called Fred and Wilma?

LKirk · 30/08/2012 15:06

There's a girl at my son's nursery called Pebbles. Ridiculous name.

Arabellasmella · 30/08/2012 15:03

I once taught a Tyranny and a Krystal Maize.
Ruby Marmalade is now firmly on my list

Frontpaw · 30/08/2012 15:02

The Honorable Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson. Imagine trying to fit that onto a Cash's label.

drjohnsonscat · 30/08/2012 15:00

drseuss I also know a black child called Bianca. Obviously you don't have to actually look like your name (Rose, Lily) but perhaps better not to look like the complete opposite of your name.

bronzeMedal · 30/08/2012 14:56

Crabb I'm with you as I said earlier

I don't think many of the names on here are that bad at all. May not all be to my taste but then neither is Michael or Peter.

If I were to have a blaze though I would spell it blaise and claim my French ancestry

It's not the names that get me a lot of the time it's the fact that people very obviously don't do their research

booflebean · 30/08/2012 14:54

Isn't it Alex?!!!

booflebean · 30/08/2012 14:53

Boris isn't is real name though is it

Vicky2011 · 30/08/2012 14:51

You see some, by no means all, of these names sound just fine to me.

Show's we're all different Smile

My sister taught an Alora. My Italian tutor was amused. I can't think if it not being said in a heavy sigh A-Lo-raaaaaaahhhhh

Giddypants · 30/08/2012 14:43

I know a sister and brother called meadow and arry

mathanxiety · 30/08/2012 14:38

Duly acknowledged, Crabb.

DessieLou · 30/08/2012 14:34

I know a boy called Leaf...I'm pretty sure when he hits his teens he'll start calling himself Lee! Poor kid.

squoosh · 30/08/2012 14:30

Florence and Harriet make me cringe.

Shoshe · 30/08/2012 14:30

Brother is a 48 year old Denholm, pronounced Denim, it is my mothers maiden name (he is also a top research scientist)

His twin has a name with a 'different' spelling of a fairly common name for its day, he is now a Police Inspector

Neither name stopped them being successful.

And my DD's name has come up on here. With a ALTERNATE spelling.

Each to their own.

BigHairyFlowers · 30/08/2012 14:27

Olivia.
