Carnation
Tia Maria
Wayne Bowe - I kid you not!

HmmThinkingAboutIt · 30/08/2012 18:45

Workmate's wife is teacher and she's taught a little girl called Chlamydia.

Boggler · 30/08/2012 18:44

My sil (teacher) has come accross a Blade (boy) and Tia-Maria (girl).

McKayz · 30/08/2012 18:44

None of my DCs can be judges, lawyers or doctors according to MN and I think they're fairly normal names.

Which is good as DS1 wants to be a pilot, DS2 wants to be a Hairy Biker and DD is 10 weeks old.

So slightly out there names never seem to go down well.

(aka Frank Kelly) 'The Twelve Days of Christmas'
Arion · 30/08/2012 18:34

Nefertiri-Jill (into ancient Egypt and Mum's name, and had to be fully named, no shortening)
Armani Jean
Cartier (boy)
and some horrendous spellings including Charleigh (Charlie)

anniewoo · 30/08/2012 18:30

Gobnait. Named after an irish saint. Pronounced Gob net Grin

Kayano · 30/08/2012 18:29

Buffy the vampire slayer is the only place for a 'spike' IMO

Frontpaw · 30/08/2012 18:27

We had a whole Spike Yay or Nay thread earlier this year. It got quite shouty and I got scared.

fluffiphlox · 30/08/2012 18:24

Spike is the bulldog in Tom and Jerry, surely?

AvonCallingBarksdale · 30/08/2012 18:21

I think Spike's a great name. It was on our list for DC2, but we had a DD. It's not that out there, is it Confused

mignonette · 30/08/2012 18:18

Spike is a cool name. However the appellation was chosen.

xmasevebundle · 30/08/2012 18:14

Frontpaw · 30/08/2012 17:45

Oh come on, wouldn't you do a double take if you got a card through for an appointment with Dr Sweetcheeks Malone?

Frontpaw · 30/08/2012 17:44

Nooooooo!
Sam? - here miss!
Anne? - here miss!
Mary? - here miss!
Unique? - which one miss?

BalloonSlayer · 30/08/2012 17:43

I did read of some parents calling their child Unique. And when he/she started school there was another one in their class. Grin

Frontpaw · 30/08/2012 17:43

Wasn't there a judge in the states called Cupcake or something like that?

Frontpaw · 30/08/2012 17:41

Terence Milligan...

George Orwell was Eric.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 30/08/2012 17:39

tbh I couldn't give a stuff if a name is "real" or not.

Each to their own.

Has anyone trotted out the high court judge bollocks thing yet?

Frontpaw · 30/08/2012 17:39

Spike Lees real name is Shelton Jackson Lee... Ok so that's not much better.

Spike Jonez was little Adam Spiegel.

mignonette · 30/08/2012 17:24

Spike is a fantastic name! I love it. Spike Lee? Spike Jonze? Very cool 'namesakes'.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 30/08/2012 17:24

Why is he a poor lad?
It's a name.
It at not have been SM's real name but it's the one he used all his adult life.

So if little spike doesn't like it he can do the opposite and call himself Hamish or Noah or any of the other MN approved names.
If he wants to e a high court judge or a lawyer of course

bronzeMedal · 30/08/2012 17:22

Why not flopsie as a nickname for Florence
I have a James who I call jimbobaroony
It's not a shortening. Its an extension of Jimbob which came from Jim. I wonder what I'll move onto next
