Not a fan of either, sorry.

scottishmummy · 03/09/2012 00:06

ok if you have to spell out how to say, you've picked a doozey
no bad name keech (pronounced k-ech) is ever redeemed by elaborate how to say

EllenParsons · 03/09/2012 00:00

Not really keen on either, but I prefer Alara of the two. I love Lara without the A.

FatimaLovesBread · 02/09/2012 20:32

Alannah/Alana is pronounced A-lah-na.
Prefer Alanya to Alara. What about just Lara?

CaringMum28 · 02/09/2012 19:01

Alaina is a made up but more proper sounding American name. Or Alaine with an a. X

ArgyMargy · 02/09/2012 18:58

Alanya is a resort in Turkey.

OrangeFireandGoldashes · 02/09/2012 18:49

I'd never seen either of these before but Alara is really pretty. Alanya, not so much - makes me think of "lanyard".

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 30/08/2012 20:51

Unusual but why the heck not? Go for them if you like them. They're unusual, not weird.

Ham69 · 30/08/2012 18:11

Call me boring, but what's wrong with Lara or Anya?

newby2 · 30/08/2012 17:42

Prefer Lara, not sure I like either I'm afraid.

almapudden · 30/08/2012 14:50

I like Alara.

AWomanCalledHorse · 30/08/2012 14:41

I prefer Lara to Alara.
I like Alanya...but I grew up with a girl called Alana so it looks 'odd' to me (even though they're different names, just a personal thing).

manicinsomniac · 30/08/2012 03:56

I like them both.

Other alternatives could be
Ayla, Aliyah, Alayna, Alina, Anaya, Amaya, Anya, Anna, Ama, Aliza, Anika, Ariana, Andrea, Adela, Arabella, Amira, Amina, Alyssa, Alannah, Lara, Lana, Lena, Tara, Cara.

MollyMurphy · 30/08/2012 03:12

Ariadne......I like it Remus

I think they are okay names OP - I'd pick Alara between the two

Badgerina · 30/08/2012 02:28

worldcitizen I'm also laughing, and I bet other people who find that sort of thing funny, would find it funny too.

Mothership4two · 30/08/2012 01:23

What about Alana as that seems pretty similar to the ones you picked and much prettier sounding. If I had had a girl I liked Alex and Lara (just thought I would throw that in). The suggestion of Aria grabs me the most, it is pretty and unusual but not too unusual.

DessieLou · 30/08/2012 01:05

I suggested Elara to DP but he said no. Sad

snickers251 · 28/08/2012 16:02

I know a gorgeous little Turkish girl called alara, I like it Smile

elah11 · 28/08/2012 16:00

GlitterPinkRubberDucky its pronounced Ah-lan-ah with emphasis on second syllable. I think its from the Irish word leanbh which means child.

worldcitizen · 28/08/2012 13:30

Don't like, sorry. But people who like that sort of name might like them

I am on the floor and cannot stop laughing GrinGrinGrin Thanks

CanoeSlalom · 28/08/2012 13:05

I like Alannah and Aria.

Anya
Lara (short for Larissa)
Clara

Laura
Anna

Alma
Alicia
Amara
Arwen

TodaysAGoodDay · 28/08/2012 12:52

Alara is okay, I also like Aliya (pronounced A-lee-ya)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/08/2012 12:48

Ariadne...Ariadne...Ariadne...If I say it enough, somebody might like it! :)
