Which do you prefer, Tessa (with nickname Tess) or Lana? I'm interested to know what you think of when you hear either of these names, what impression do they give out (if that makes sense)? Trying to finalise name for dd....

Sorry but they are both kind of dog names to me. And Tess just makes me think two ton tess.

I love Lana! - it would be on our list but is too similar to our other daughter. It's glamorous, feminine, elegant. If a bit diva-ish.. but that wouldn't put me off. Lana del Rey comes to mind, and I would wonder a bit if she would spark a name trend like Rihanna did? Overall I would use it though.. Lana goes with names like Ava, kind of old school.

Tessa is a nickname already! I like it as well, quite sassy. Although the full name is a bit too angelic for me (Theresa)

Tessa/Tess. Laura is nice, too.

WhitePony · 25/08/2012 11:08

I like Tessa/Tess: Tess is a very cute NN that will age well.

Lana is okay, but I personally prefer Lena (pronounced lay-na). Lara is okay, too, but I much prefer good old-fashioned Laura.

Tess for me.

The main reason behind not chosing Lana is because in Friends, Joey laughs at Phoebe when she says she has a friend called Lana Titwilder Blush

I much prefer Lana. Not a fan of tess at all (even though my lovely step gran was tessie - short for theresa).

cece · 25/08/2012 08:59

Lana - old lady

Tess - glamorous - goes out clubbing a lot (or maybe that is kust my friend...)

CakeBump · 25/08/2012 08:55

I like Tessa/Tess too.

To me its a sort of country, capable name. A horsey girl sort of a name.

Lana is a bit trendy I think...

EdithWeston · 25/08/2012 08:53

Tessa/Tess would be interchangeable nn for Therese or Theresa, and as such is fine. I's a capable, go anywhere, sort of name.

Lana doesn't do it for me, sorry; bit out-dated film star, a rather pedestrian kind of name.
