Dh's parents have named new cat the name we were considering for child

Am 5 months pg and we are in the midst of name discussions hence my many threads here. Dh's parents told us yesterday they have got a new cat. Which came from cat's home with a cat name. But they have renamed it one of our frontrunners (without knowing - we don't discuss names with people).

Dh says we can use it anyway as it's just a cat. We go to their house about once a month. But I am a bit grrrr. What do you think?

My parents had a cat with the name they gave me. they changed to cat's name to Tigger Grin.

No idea how the cat reacted to them calling me as i have no
memory of that cat....

I dont see a problem really cats are well loved members of the family it's not an Insult to share nanes. Especially as kids often dont even answer to their own names and u spend all day calling the buzz lightfast or princess sparkle etc:)

Assuming you still like the name once your baby is here, just use it, cannot for the life of me see what the problem is Confused.

I think it's actually a good idea. My parents tend to use my DD's name and their dog's name interchangeably ....having the same name would make things much easier & less confusing Wink

You really can't use the name now that would be odd. But you shouldve told them as soon as they said it 'that's on our baby name shortlist'

Can you imagine calling your toddler over to you on a visit and the cat runs over too?

Stick with the name, assuming it remains front runner for another 4 months. At least you know his parents like it.

Can't you tell them that you want to use the name and see if they will pick something else for their cat?
