I think I like old fashioned names - anyone care to share what their grandmothers/great-grandmothers were called.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hilda Florence and Frances . If we had had a girl she would have either been Florence or had Florence as a second name . Ds2 has Francis as a middle name.

Grandfathers were Ronald Douglas and Joseph.

We don't know either my Dad's mum's name (she died when he was little) or DH's paternal GM's name (his dad was adopted).

My lovely Nanna was called Nell - her real name was Mary Ellen but nobody ever used that.

I love old-fashioned names like Florence etc. but I have heard some lately that I think are taking it a bit too far and for me should just never come back into fashion, like Mabel and Myrtle Hmm. Each to their own though!

takingthestairs · 14/08/2012 10:58

Sheila and Mabel

DawnOfTheDee · 14/08/2012 10:57
