boy name to complement Beatrix

Our 2.5 yr old DD is called Beatrix. She was 3 weeks old when we finally thought of it and DH and I agreed on it immediately.

DS is now 16 days old and DH and I are really struggling on names for him.

It appears we like names that known but unusual, with more of elegant feel.

So far, the ones we agree on (but no Eureka moment) are:

  • Toby
  • Barnabus / Barny
  • Benedict
  • Pascal
  • Lysander
  • Xavier

DH thinks there are more names out there that we have yet to consider.

Anyone got any suggestions?

of these suggestion so far, Hugo and Theodore are my favourites to go with Beatrix IMVHO.

Another good name is James

Dante is very low class. Think Council Estate.

Benet is an old form of Benedict?
See St. Benet's abbey, Norfolk.

Hugo or Rafael

Laurence goes really well with Beatrix. Laurie for short. both classic, nice, slightly unusual names. Good luck. naming not easy I have found but they grow into their name whatever you choose! X

ThePieWhoLovedMe · 09/08/2012 19:07

Tobias or Titus !!

stickyj · 09/08/2012 16:30

Hi, what about Gregory? I have a Dominic too

mathanxiety · 09/08/2012 16:19

Don't use Dante if there is any chance of a DS living and working in the US or Canada. It's very downmarket in N. America.

livingonaprairie · 09/08/2012 06:44

I know a Beatrix with brothers Tobias and Rupert if that's any help

smokeybacon · 09/08/2012 06:39

I know a Beatrix with 2 brothers Max and Casper. Both work well with her name I think.

FreelanceMama · 09/08/2012 06:36

lovely name for a girl. Glad to see Tobias and Montgomery on the thread (our son's names) although Bea and Toby might sound a bit odd.
Theodore
Edwin
Benjamin (agree that Benedict sounds like Much Ado)
Marlow
Louis
Franklin
Wesley
Julius/julian
Fitzwilliam

haha - Potter - that would be so funny!!!!

Lots of great suggestions that I can discuss with DH

I really like Dante though. I liked Bronte for a girl, and think this sounds like a male equivalent to it.

MumPotNoodle · 08/08/2012 22:50

Beau

MrTumblesCrackWhore · 08/08/2012 22:49

Beatrix and Benedict - a tad twee (Beatrice and Benedick are a couple in Much Ado About Nothing)

We were going to call ds1 Beatrix if he had been a dd.

I've always liked Grey for a boy or Estile if you want to go a bit frenchy.

What about Lucien too?

beachyhead · 08/08/2012 22:48

I like Toby Grin
