30 weeks pregnant with DD1.

What do you think of this name? Me and DP both like it, but not sure if it sounds a bit 'nick-namey'?

Loooove Cleo! Definitely on my list for next DC!

NurseBernard · 10/08/2012 21:05

How can it sound lispy? Confused There's no 's' or 'sh' sound...

iloveberries · 10/08/2012 20:46

i think it's really nice, different but not weird. I wouldn't think of cars - i would think of cleopatra!

googietheegg · 10/08/2012 20:46

I like it a lot - it was on our shortlist for DD. Smile

TiggerWearsATriteSmile · 10/08/2012 20:45

I sound like I have a lisp when I say it out loud.
Say it out loud a few times, the only way it doesn't sound lispy to me is when I say Clee Oh and that's not right either.
It wouldn't be for me sorry.

NurseBernard · 10/08/2012 20:45

Doesn't make me think of the car at all, which is Clio, anyway.

I think of Cleo Lane - which suggests the name has a certain degree of timelessness.

Go for it if you like it - it's hardly that 'out there'!

TellyBug · 10/08/2012 20:40

I didn't think of cats or cars when I just read it. Nice.

HappyCamel · 10/08/2012 20:39

I think Chloe would be better than Cleo. Itll be spelt Clio and there'll be endless car jokes. It was a French girls' name first though, as was Megane.

Gugglebum · 10/08/2012 20:36

Just stumbled upon this: nameberry.com/blog/nameberry-picks-the-best-o-names?pid=975
I think it's quite pretty, actually. I doubt everyone would make the car connection they way they would with say, Mercedes, or Chevrolet or something. ;)

SweetPea3 · 10/08/2012 20:33

I know two Cleo's - one is Cliona (Irish) and the other is Cleonie (poss Greek?). Love it!

Ihatepeas · 10/08/2012 20:19

I looked after a Clio she is fab.. It's a great name!

theyarebetter · 10/08/2012 19:08

What is the other name?

banyan · 10/08/2012 18:25

Love it. Only wasn't on list for DD because it rhymes with DS's name!

MoonHare · 10/08/2012 18:24

Not sure, I don't think it's awful but there's something about the name Cleo that I'm not keen on, bit like Lola.

How about Claudia?

babyblabber · 10/08/2012 17:39

I like it. Don't get the cat thing and the car is Clio and not really around anymore is it?

Biscuitsneeded · 10/08/2012 17:03

Friend's daughter is called Cleo. She is fun and tomboyish, and it really suits her. I think it's a great name.

MyMelody · 06/08/2012 13:31

nms - not my style?

RillaBlythe · 06/08/2012 13:18

What does NMS mean?

Makes me think of Lawrence Durrell's Alexandria Quartet - I love it. Was on the list for dd2 but dp troubled by the car connection.

numbertaker · 06/08/2012 12:13

It is a nice name, but the connotations are way to strong, car, and cleo rocos. Also cleopatra.

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 06/08/2012 12:12

I think it's fine. At least the papa! Nicole! Ads are over!!

snowshoes · 06/08/2012 12:11

Friends have one. It is NMS but suits their DD fine and I no longer think of pets every time I hear it. Agree with a PP that the right adult could easily make it "cool".

badtasteflump · 06/08/2012 12:09

Immediately makes me think of Carry On Cleo - and also the woman with big hair who used to sing the 'shooby dooby doob' stuff (scat?).

I do like the name though Smile

squoosh · 06/08/2012 12:08

What's the cat connection?

squoosh · 06/08/2012 12:07

I like it actually. Have never met one and certainly don't think it sounds too trendy.

It sounds quite fresh to my ear.

MyMelody · 06/08/2012 11:46

I think Cleo is a fab name, unusual without being weird, I think it suits from babyhood right into adulthood, it is a cool and hip name imo - I really love it.
