rachel234 · 13/08/2012 12:11

17 boys named my ds's name last year, up from 11 the previous year.

Thanks for the link!

RubyFakeNails · 13/08/2012 12:10

Also does anyone else much prefer reading the bottom names, there are 3 children called:

Betsy-Bo
Bowe
Bunny
Carman
Chavy (wtf?!)
Daisy-Boo
Daisymay
Dane
Darby
Gypsie
Katelan
KC
Ladan
Laken
Macey-may/maci-mai/maisey-mae and other variations
Maddison Leigh (obviously not in London)
Nevaeha
Payson
Rubyrose
Scarlotte
Starlett
Trilby

and so many more that I'm having to shout out to colleagues. The 3s do feature some mn favourites or at least ones I think mn likes Clemency, Persephone, Eponine and Giulietta.

itsjustmeanon · 13/08/2012 12:09

I remember about 7 years ago, a work colleague calling her daughter Amelia, and thinking what a pretty unusual name. I'd never have expected it to become no. 1 name.

My three month old nephew is called Harry. I knew it was popular, but didn't expect it to be no. 1.

Dammit. Baby Cakes' name has gone up 10 places and is in the top 30. And I haven't met a single other boy with his name. I'm going to now.

Showmethemhappyfeet · 13/08/2012 11:54

DD has been at the keyboard, so maybe this was her doing, but at no.852 there were 34 boys called MD??

5madthings · 13/08/2012 11:54

i cant get the dam thing to open/load shall try and have a look later asi am wondering if dd's name Merryn has got more popular.

i know ds1 and ds2 names are more popular but mine are 13 and 10 so not popular when we used it!

RubyFakeNails · 13/08/2012 11:38

I'm not pregnant or planning anymore and I love this.

Have been searching all the babies I know.

Oddly I know 2 girls born in 2011 that were named Perry yet it doesn't feature at all so they must be the only 2?! THe parents don't know each other so it must just be coincidence.

Only DD2s name features. DD1 and DS have never appeared on the list so can only assume there must have been maximum 2 per year.

Showmethemhappyfeet · 13/08/2012 11:31

Although either less babies were born this year, or more used the top names. There were only about 3 more girls called my DDs name this year than last, but it's almost 100 places higher! Hmm

bumponboardagain · 13/08/2012 11:30

Beau is a boys name surely? Will need to have a look at this list!

Showmethemhappyfeet · 13/08/2012 11:29

Yay DDs name has hardly moved. Grin still way down the list.

Kendodd · 13/08/2012 11:27

Manic where did you find the top 300?

rezzle · 13/08/2012 11:16

Nicole is still in the top 100!

Kendodd · 13/08/2012 11:16

I have three, none of their names are in the top 100. I don't think they have unusual names, I must be wrong. Smile

AbsofAwesomeness · 13/08/2012 11:11

"Within the top 100 names, Kayden (up 1,041 to number 94) ... were the highest climbers between 2001 and 2011."

How, and WHY (more importantly) is Kayden so popular?

Whatevertheweather · 13/08/2012 11:05

Argh am in hospital on iPhone and won't open. So far nameless dd3 is being born on Wednesday!!

raininginbaltimore · 13/08/2012 11:02

Number 52, I'm happy! Not too popular. Our other name choices were more popular than like 19 nd 23. But she didn't suit my of those names anyway.

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 13/08/2012 10:44

I was half expecting DD's name to top the list. I know it's not popular on mumsnet, but I've met a few of them. We didn't look at any list when we picked it. DH is a Dr Who fan ....

DanyTargaryen · 13/08/2012 10:42

Surprised to see my DD's name top of the list! Mind you I have seen a few since she was born.

manicinsomniac · 13/08/2012 10:28

Hmmmm, not much change is there!

The only names in the top 300 that weren't there last year are (I think)
Anaya (252)
Josephine (261)
Mila (261)
April (267)
Ayla (270)
Polly (272)
Talia (272)
Beau (275)
Aminah (280)
Inaaya (280)
Skyla (280)
Imaan (285)
Evangeline (289)
Philippa (292)
Zofia (292)
Izabella (297)

I think they've replaced:
Peyton, Kyla, Sydney, Charlie, Lila, Beth, Roxanne, Nikola, Laiba, Katelyn, Keeley, Louisa, Chelsea, Ashleigh and Crystal.

I guess I forget how few people are actually on mumsnet - I expected Celementine, Hebe, Isis, Valentine and Isadora etc to have shot up there!

Aworryingtrend · 13/08/2012 10:23

179 people called their DAUGHTER Beau. Confused

threeleftfeet · 13/08/2012 10:21

7 with my DS's name.

ThePieSmuggler · 13/08/2012 10:18

I'm scarily obsessed with this list - thanks for posting!! Smile

RightsaidFreud · 13/08/2012 10:15

Most Hollys are born in december, and most Summers are born in August. SURELY NOT?!
