Unusual but not weird pretty girl names PLEASE!

Help me! Totally stuck on a name for our baby (we know she's a girl).

I'd like something unusual but not odd. Love pretty names for girls ending with a 'y' sound. If Lily or Millie were unusual names that's the kind of thing we'd go for.

We also have greek relatives so could use a Greek name but also no ideas here. Love flower names as well but can't find any unusual ones.

Can't have a 'r' sound though - i can say my 'rs' but never comfortable with them. So e.g. 'raphaela' would be out or 'primose' (not that I like primrose anyway but YKWIM).

If you're not already fed up of my list of requirements, can you please please give me some ideas?! Xxxxxxx

Thisbe, Ianthe, Xanthe, Cleophee, Cleone, Leonie, Adelie, Zelie/Azelie, Dorothy, Clemency, Delphi, Eulalie, Eugenie, Iphigenie, Ophelie, Octavie, Flavie, Ivy, Ione, Nancy, Sally, Lidie, Elsie, Sidonie, Elodie?

Leonie

Zelie (pronounced ZEE-lee) is on my MN list, it is an old (medieval) form of Soline/Solenn and means "solemn" (babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com/meaning_of_Zelie.html) . I find it very pretty and it should work well pretty much everywhere.

Another idea: Isis - as an alternative to Iris, avoiding the "r" sound.

Thea, Thalia are fantastic choices too.

Thisistheway · 24/07/2012 13:41

There's a few lovely ones but the 'r's' are a problem for me. So Romilly and Cassandra wouldn't work :(

I know an Esme, Amelie and Cecily so also out.

Bonnie I really love but....our surname would make them a laughing stock.

Liberty still current fav, followed by Thea.

Thea is a lovely name that we would have used for a girl, but ds1 is Theo and by the time we had a girl (no5) we then couldnt use it as having a theo and thea would have been odd, we also like thalia :)

Mspontipine · 24/07/2012 13:23

I love Aster too. DS could have been an Aster. Smile

CrazyRandomHappenstance · 24/07/2012 13:21

Wow thanks for the quick replies and all your suggestions. Thea is the closest I think to what I'm after as is unusual and pretty so is my current fav.
