If I call her Aurora, would it just make you think of this weeks tragedy?

would it be like calling her Columbine??

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I didn't even know that anything had happened anywhere called "Aurora" until you brought it up.

Every mention I've seen has used the word "Batman" to clairfy what they were talking about, not the name of the theatre

ThePathanKhansWitch · 23/07/2012 15:20

No. Northern Lights.

Trills · 23/07/2012 15:19

Definitely Sleeping Beauty.

holyshow · 23/07/2012 15:17

Disney Princess associations for me here too. What about Aurelia? I love Aurelia.

shimmy0 · 23/07/2012 15:14

No

GrimmaTheNome · 23/07/2012 15:05

No. It might if you lived near Denver, not otherwise.

changeforthebetter · 23/07/2012 15:05

I have known some Spanish speaking women/kids called Aurora. It comes from the Latin meaning 'dawn'. My main reservation would be the way its pronunciation would be mangled in these 'ere northern parts Grin

It's pretty though and no, I would not associate it with the shootings.

Nemonemo · 23/07/2012 15:03

No it was what we'd decided ages ago, but now it's 'the aurora shootings' in the paper, and I'm wondering if that's going to be the first thing people associate with it. It feels a bit weird to name her that a month after a big tragedy of the same name.

It wouldn't make me think of the shootings. It makes me think of sleeping beauty.

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 23/07/2012 14:52

Isn't she one of the Disney doe eyed non feminists? Sorry I am not up on my princesses but that's what it makes me think of. It's a pretty name tho.

TheCatInTheHairnet · 23/07/2012 14:46

I guess it depends. If. You liked the name beforehand, go for it.

If you read about the shootings and thought, "Aurora! That's a nice name!" that would be a bit weird!!

FormerlyTitledUntidy · 23/07/2012 14:46

I think sleeping beauty

squoosh · 23/07/2012 14:46

I think of Sleeping Beauty.

I also think that it's a tricky word to say.

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 23/07/2012 14:43

I was thinking storm from the xmen.

JollyHockeyStick · 23/07/2012 14:43

Nope, makes me think 'Borealis'.

crazygracieuk · 23/07/2012 14:42

The Disney Princess springs to mind as I live in the uk.
If I was living in the US then I'd avoid the name.
