Is the middle name Pax a bit silly?

You might get away with Dove for a girl Smile

rezzle · 25/07/2012 12:49

Thanks for all of the replies! Mir is really lovely too, and so is Dove (although doubt I would get away with that one!).

I knew a Pax once. He was a Paxton. lovely, lovely man. A good name imo.

bigbluebump · 25/07/2012 12:42

Sure, if James or Mae happen to be family names and are meaningful, then great!

patosullivan · 25/07/2012 09:38

bigbluebump - people may have selected "the standard James or Mae" as a middle name because it's meaningful to them.

For instance, DS has a very plain, standard middle name. Why did we choose it? Because we wanted to honour a family member who has that as his first name. It's admittedly not an exciting name, but it's very meaningful to us.

mathanxiety · 25/07/2012 02:47

Columba, sorry..

mathanxiety · 25/07/2012 02:47

Mir is a lovely Russian word for peace that I have always thought would be a nice name.

There is also Paloma or Comumba, meaning dove, a symbol of peace.

And Dove itself.

Belmo · 24/07/2012 22:41

I was going to say if you have to ask then yes, but I really like it!

bigbluebump · 24/07/2012 22:39

Much more meaningful than the standard James or Mae.

AgathaTrunchbull · 24/07/2012 22:37

Lovely. Meaning much more important than the sound, given it's a middle name. Since when did nicknames commonly come from middle names, anyway???

Something with three syllables for the first name?

3bees · 22/07/2012 23:03

I think it's nice. Middle names are rarely used so anything goes

patosullivan · 22/07/2012 22:33

Fine as a middle name.

tammytoby · 22/07/2012 21:58

Great middle name imo. Nice meaning.

twonker · 22/07/2012 21:57

What about Paz ? That's Spanish for peace, and sounds less like axe!

birdofthenorth · 22/07/2012 21:51

So long as the first name isn't Flat or Max either I say go for it Smile

exoticfruits · 22/07/2012 21:50

I immediately think 'Paxo'.

evamummy · 22/07/2012 21:48

Lovely meaning and absolutely find as a middle name imo.

Mrsloverlovershabba · 22/07/2012 21:37

Nope fine

Leanderbaer · 22/07/2012 21:27

It's a bit Anjelina Jolie/brad Pitt for me, but if you like it you should choose it. Smile

rezzle · 22/07/2012 21:10

Oops, sorry missed that about first name. I'm only 12 weeks pregnant so we've only just started talking about names (although DH is less than enthusiastic!).

Dillydollydaydream · 22/07/2012 21:05

Nice meaning, as its not the Christian name I thinks it's absolutely fine.

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 22/07/2012 21:03

What is the first name?

JustFabulous · 22/07/2012 21:02

He will get called Paxo.

rezzle · 22/07/2012 21:01

Haha, no the first name isn't Tam and we don't have a surname beginning in O :o

And yes, it's latin for peace which we thought would be a lovely meaning :)
