My dh suggested this to me and I really like it. We are also considering Ezra. What do you think of Rafferty? Thanks Smile

I like it

Convert · 18/07/2012 20:16

Love Rafferty!!

SugarBatty · 18/07/2012 20:14

"Trying to give your kid a cool name?" How exactly? Just say whether you like it or not, nevermind what you "perceive" the op's intentions to be!

Op I like both but prefer Ezra or Raphael as another poster suggested

babyincubator · 18/07/2012 20:09

amazing, amazing name. Desperately wanted it for DS by DH refused. Go for it.

Psammead · 18/07/2012 18:16

Not my taste. It sounds very foppish to me. I'd expect Rafferty to have lace cuffs and to recite poetry earnestly.

juneau · 18/07/2012 18:11

They both sound like you're trying really hard to give your kid a 'cool' name.

MoonHare · 18/07/2012 17:59

I like Rafferty. Much nicer than Ezra, which sounds very red-neck to me.

Stateofplay · 18/07/2012 14:47

Yes, Jude and Sadie's son. Whether Rafferty Frost or Rafferty Law I don't know.

I always thought it sounded quite cool in the context of that family, but not everybody has the Jude 'n' Sadie Primrose Hill hanging out with Kate 'n' Stella 'n' Gwyneth 'n' Madge and co. It may sound less cool elsewhere.

SandyBottoms · 18/07/2012 14:08

My maiden name Blush

weasar · 18/07/2012 13:49

It's ok, but I prefer Ezra - which I think sounds stronger. Rafferty sounds a bit frilly Confused sorry

YokoOhNo · 18/07/2012 13:49

Jude Law and sadie Frost called their son Rafferty, I think.

Not my choice, but Ive heard worse.

BonzoDooDah · 18/07/2012 13:47

I love it - was on my list but DH didn't like it.

Have a friend with Raphael and his nickname is Raffy - which is lovely imo

suedpantsoffem · 18/07/2012 13:39

Rafferty? As in Gerry? No - it's a surname!

ellangirl · 18/07/2012 13:38

I prefer raphael (similar sound and nicknames).

Dumbledoresgirl · 18/07/2012 11:40

It would be top of my list if I were having another baby. Dh wouldn't consider it for our previous sons though. The fact that it is "frilly" is what I like about it. He would have to grow up to be strong, tall and with flowing hair though, or at least be a confident boy to carry it off.

I dislike all the abbreviations though so that is worth bearing in mind when it comes to choosing a name.

Ezra is ok. Not my choice.

squoosh · 18/07/2012 11:35

How is it a classic name?

It's a surname.

tammytoby · 18/07/2012 11:32

"the woman in the next bed to me had a son called Raffety. Everytime she said it I almost laughed"

Really? You have a funny sense of humour Hmm!

I think Rafferty is a cool, classic, strong name! And not overused (yet anyway Smile). Great choice imo.

Nancy66 · 18/07/2012 11:04

I like it. Don't like Rafe.

littlemissbroody26 · 18/07/2012 10:51

I really love it!

sparkle12mar08 · 18/07/2012 10:50

Prefer Rafe on it's own, but would be a tad nervous about the aural similarity to 'rape' though.

squoosh · 18/07/2012 10:33

it's a surname, not a first name.

beatofthedrum · 18/07/2012 08:32

Really like it.

slovenlydotcom · 18/07/2012 07:44

They are both lovely names, Rafferty would be my favourite, but both lovely

mayanna123 · 18/07/2012 07:30

I like Rafferty nickname Raffy or Rafe.

VolAuVent · 16/07/2012 08:32

I like Ezra. Rafferty too frilly for me.
