Any suggestions ladies most welcome, it seems so much easier to agree on girls names. But we're a bit stuck on the boys....
So far we've listed eoghan and aiden

:o fuckersnail
Sorry you seen a bit offended paco, I just think Jonjo is an acquired taste. Am sure your nephew is lovely :)

paolocee · 16/07/2012 08:39

He was also a champion jockey and racehorse trainer. It's also the name of my 12-year-old superbright nephew.

FuckerSnailInYourHedgerow · 16/07/2012 08:34

JohnJo spends his summers saving turf and hay. He drinks smithwicks pale ale and smokes major. He ates a mountain of sphuds for his dinner and drinks his tea out of a bucket sized mug. He loves his Mammy and will find himself a lovely wife just like her some day.

paolocee · 15/07/2012 10:46

I come from Galway - there are LOADS of Jonjos out West. I thought this was about Gaelic AND Irish names.

FormerlyTitledUntidy · 15/07/2012 10:35

Well Jonjo is not a common combination around me, but that aside, neither John nor Joseph are Irish\Gaelic, they are biblical. There is no J in the Irish alphabet.

paolocee · 15/07/2012 09:21

Jonjo also contracts nicely into JJ.

Just to say, it's Tadhg, not Tadgh. I would love to name a DS this (it's my grandfather's name) but I'm a bit cagey due to the spelling.

elliephant · 15/07/2012 01:18

JonJo as in John Joseph I assume would be a common enough combination and surely well known. Know a cute little toddler who goes by this and a few older namesakes.

YNK · 15/07/2012 01:04

I like Sorley (the gailic spelling is too tricky even for me) It's from Skye.

MrsCobbit · 15/07/2012 01:02

Daragh is nicer with one "r", Cillian is nicer with a "C". Have you considered Ruadhán?

FormerlyTitledUntidy · 15/07/2012 00:58

Shock Jonjo?

paolocee · 15/07/2012 00:54

How about Jonjo or Colm?

FarelyKnuts · 14/07/2012 00:23

Yes sorry for all the rogue fadas. Was on phone and was going a bit fada happy :o

wigglesrock · 13/07/2012 21:42

My husband didn't like it either - just as well we had 3 dds Grin and being actually Irish we went for Spanishy names Grin

Dorisday13 · 13/07/2012 21:36

Love Tadgh but can't convince DH

wigglesrock · 13/07/2012 21:34

Oh I love Tadgh, its very swoonsome Grin

hurricanewyn · 13/07/2012 21:33

I love Oisin, if I ever have another DS that's what he'll be called.
We're in the UK and there's a boy in DS's class called Tadgh and no one has a problem with pronunciation.

Nobhead · 13/07/2012 21:21

My DS is Sean Joseph- chosen by my DH, gorgeous name Grin I am biased though.

Wow lots there, we're in the UK but all the English names we come up with sound ridiculous with DH's very irish surname! I agree something pronounceable is good, still loving Eoghan, the spelling Eoin is appealing, maybe easier for school purposes etc

takingthestairs · 13/07/2012 15:34

Edited to add - It's "Aodhán" not Aodhánn. I can't even spell the bloody thing and I'm Irish Grin Blush

squoosh · 13/07/2012 15:33

Devlin is a surname
