Dh doesn't like ANY names I suggest and we are therefore finding it hard to agree. Baby is due in 10 weeks time so would like to have a few potentials at the ready.
To give you and idea... I like:
Lachlan - Dh says we are not using the same name as Rupert Murdoch's son!
Malachi - DH thinks i've lost it.
Leon - a friend has used it already for their son
Max - both of us quite like but don't like maxamillion or maxwell - prefer maximus but not sure...
Freddie - but don't like frederick
Xavier - a friend has used already
Luca - DH says it reminds him of the suzanne vega song about domestic abuse!
Fabio - DH thinks I've lost it.
Oscar - Friend has used already.
George - DH not keen
Leo - used in family already

Please help me think of some nice names - have trawled the boards and various websites and not able to find anything we both like.
(Oh and it needs to go with DS1's name which is Dylan)
I await inspiration.....

I know a Leander - a woman in her 40s!

I'm not overly keen on traditional names so I am not keen on Matthew, Mark, John, James etc.

Him Indoors said that if I really wanted a particular name I could have it but he doesn't like it. Somehow I'm not sure I could go with a name that he didn't also really like? Or could I?

I'm playing cards close to my chest on names for now! Grin

Spuddybean · 17/07/2012 09:45

hhmm I quite like Leander (not keen on Orlando). But i don't want the shortening to Lee.

DP sort of likes Campbel - Cam for short, so i think that is the back up so far. It is so hard. Girls names seem so much easier. It may be a girl tho so we will see.

Cheers for the advice :)

bigroundbump · 17/07/2012 07:58

@ Silversky: am really intrigued now. What are the three names you like?
@Spuddybean: Lysander is nice. Have you thought or Leander or Orlando?

Spuddybean · 16/07/2012 21:41

We are in the same boat OP. 6 weeks to go and only one name we agree on if it's a boy - Lysander.

DP says no to everything else. :(

He likes Victor, but i don't.

BillyBollyBandy · 16/07/2012 21:11

Wilfred? Could have Wilf or Freddie for a nn?

SilverSky · 16/07/2012 21:00

There doesn't seem to be many boys names that jump out iykwim.

Today I was at soft play and heard three names I liked being yelled left right and centre. I don't mind popular names but there is a limit! Grin

Rufus, Rory, Edward, Edmund, Phillip, Miles, Ellis, Dominic... I have 3 DD's. Couldnt think of a boys name when I was pregnant, now I love all of these.

MarthasHarbour · 15/07/2012 21:24

OP are you secretly married to my DH? That conversation 'style' is prevalent in our household. eg:

Martha: What about Max - oo Max is lovely
MrMartha: Nah - 'Maxwell House or Mad Max' haha Grin

His current faves are Jesus and Adolf Hmm

I am loving Aiden at the moment but he is just dismissive, no reason at all, so i have said that he has to be 'open to new ideas' Hmm

NoComet · 15/07/2012 20:56

Rhys or Ross

Rhys being Welsh like Dylan
A quick google gives Ross as Scotish, but the one I knew was a stunningly good looking Welsh lad.

Cydonia · 15/07/2012 20:54

If it helps, I had a very similar dilemma, DP and I couldn't agree on a boy's name either, DS was nameless for a couple of days! We whittled it down to James, William or Max. Went with Max William in the end, was a bit of a compromise at the time but I love it now. We didn't like any of the 'long' versions although I didn't really want a short name as surname is also one syllable. I tell myself secretly that it's short for Maximus as that means 'great one'! And I also lengthen it to Maxi moo or Maxster if no one else is around... :)

What are your fave boys names Siversky?

I have the same issue. Name ideas vetoed but no alternatives given. We don't know what we are having and I'm two days overdue and think we have a few girls names that we could pick from depending on "fit" post birth but completely stuffed for boys. Him Indoors not keen on my fave boys name so may have to resort to calling a boy "boy". Hmm

bigroundbump · 14/07/2012 21:05

Just to give you an idea of what I'm up against:
Me: "Callum is lovely..."
DH: "Too much like Gollum... My precious."

Iheartmycat: had had the same thought about Marley - they could be the 2 Bobs then - but a friend already has a Marley and that film about the dog has ruined the name for DH.
Leo is lovely but in family already.
Love Milo but DH "hates" it.
The search continues... 9 weeks and counting...

Pippenguin99 · 14/07/2012 14:38

Pippenguin99 · 14/07/2012 14:37

I like Jesse, Tristan (or Tristram) or Callum - which is my son's name and he is basically perfect....

iheartmycat · 14/07/2012 01:04

LOVE Malachy!

Gavin
Perry
Corry
Lewis
Lorcan
Caleb
Jake
Marley (going with the Dylan-esque theme......!!)

annelid · 13/07/2012 22:43

Milo, Leo

HandMadeTail · 13/07/2012 21:52

I know a Max who is really Matthew, if that helps.

dahlianoir · 13/07/2012 21:49

victor, gustav, pablo, nino, diego, enzo ????

goodasgold · 13/07/2012 21:44

Arthur or Wilbur for a boy.

But seriously, whatever name you give your ds will be made his own by his character as he grows up. People that hated his name will come to love it as they get to know him. Trust your son to make his name the best boys' name ever. Have fun with your little boys.

Moviemum · 13/07/2012 21:36

I know a Malachi who mostly goes by the nickname Mack. Maybe Max isn't too far of a stretch beyond that? Like the Lily that I know that gets called Lils. If you like Declan, maybe Duncan?

amck5700 · 13/07/2012 21:27

What about simply Mark or Marc - similar sounding to Max........or Marcus.

MarthasHarbour · 13/07/2012 21:25

OP i have bollocked him about it tonight on the back of this thread Grin
