Still undecided how I feel about this name, DH has put it as one of his favs. What sort of nicknames might she end up with?
Thanks everyone.

I know one - she is Ims for short.

I really like it; feminine without being girly.

purplepansy · 05/07/2012 21:57

I love it (but then one of my DDs is called Imogen)! We call her Immy, Imo, Immers, Imse as nicknames, but mainly she is just Imogen ( Im-oh-jun). Like the idea of calling her Ginny - my 8yr old is Harry Potter obsessed and she'd like a sister called Ginny! I think it is a strong name, girly but not frilly. It is a French name too - Imogene (ee-moh-shjen)

My niece is Imogen. She is called immy. My DF (her grandfather) calls her jimmy which has been shortened to jim

Donteventhinkaboutit · 05/07/2012 21:08

Nice name and I like Gen (Jen) as a NN

WithACherryOnTop · 05/07/2012 20:08

I like it alot! Don't know any Imogen's though, I think actually it's an underused name! To me it's a bit different, but not 'wierd' different iykwim?

nextphase · 05/07/2012 18:12

Oh, and the 30 yr old is also known as Mogs. Don't think that as a nick name has been mentioned?

FurryFox · 05/07/2012 16:57

I have a 4 year old Imogen. Generally always called her immy, sometimes imsy, however she has taken it upon herself to tell us she only wants to be called Imogen and doesnt like her nn's Shock Wink. I was very unsure of her name first of all, but dh loved it, it was 2 days before christmas so I was feeling happy and generous and went with it. Im so glad I did, I love it and it suits her down to the ground. We're yet to meet another one.

Is she says she's Idgie people might think she has fleas.

3bees · 05/07/2012 16:19

I think it's lovely. Could be im, immy or even Jen, Jenny at a push

Gingerbreadlatte · 05/07/2012 16:19

good in full format. NN Immie is just awful.

Rather like Idgey though!

squoosh · 05/07/2012 16:11

I'm ambivalent towards it. Lot of baby Imogens around though.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 05/07/2012 16:08

I know three. All gorgeous little girls.

mimbleandlittlemy · 05/07/2012 16:04

Imogen is obviously having a massive resurgence. Now know 3 Imogens ranging from aged 2 down.

Fireandashes · 04/07/2012 22:22

I think it's a beautiful name, classic and timeless.

I know one Imogen, nn Jenny.

BuntyPenfold · 04/07/2012 22:11

I know one of 5, one of 10, and one adult, who pronounces her name with a hard g.

MammaTonic · 04/07/2012 21:30

It is a name that has grown on me. I had a tutor named Imogen (Immy) 10 years-or-so ago and I hated it back then. However, it has become one of my favourite names. It's very strong, not too popular ad suits a baby, little girl, teenager and grown woman. Immy/Immi is just gorgeous.

Fwiw, the Immy I knew was a tutor at my art school. Very cool, retro-1960s dress sense. I see her about now with a child of he own and she looks much the same :)

RaahhFerrerismynewcrush · 04/07/2012 21:29

Love it- is dd2's middle name.

Idgie is such a fab nick name (love Fried Green Tomatoes)

shoobidoo · 04/07/2012 21:23

I'm not keen, sorry. There are far nicer, more feminine names imo.

CharlotteLucas · 04/07/2012 21:20

It's a strong, elegant name. Don't know any.

CharlieBoo · 04/07/2012 21:19

I think of Imogen Thomas too, not keen tbh

bananaramma · 04/07/2012 21:14

I don't really like Imogen. It sounds harsh and unfeminine to my ears. Also doesn't travel well into other (European) languages.
