Where are all the Olivia's?!

I'm expecting another girl. My daughter is called Francesca and I really love her name (we call her Frankie). I'm struggling to find another girls name which I like as much and which 'goes' with Francesca!

I really really like Olivia and think Francesca and Olivia sounds lovely. However, I see it is one of the most popular/the most popular girls name and would hate for there to be loads of Olivia's in her class etc, especially when Francesca is relatively under used. But I don't know of any little Olivia's (know one grown up!) so if it is so popular where are they all?

So basically do you know of loads of Olivia's? And can you think of anything else which goes with Francesca? Thank you!!

I should add - there are 12 girls there in total, so two out of twelve is quite a lot I think.

There are two Olivias in my DS's pre-school - they are both three years old. I am in South East.

My Olivia is 12 and has one friend with the same name, only other one I know is 7.

WhispersOfWickedness · 04/07/2012 16:03

I know one! But she was born and lives in Norway where it isn't very popular at all Confused So I still don't know any in the UK, and I have 2 under 2.7 so I've known a lot of babies born in the last few years!

My dd has Olivia as one of her middle names but she's almost 15.
She's the only one I know of any age

bananaramma · 04/07/2012 15:49

There are indedd A LOT of Olivers and Olivias out there!

Personally I think Francesca is a great, underused name that won't sound dated any time soon and your dd will unlikely have to add her surname initial to her name.

I would try to find something less trendy than Olivia - have a look at the ONS lists outside the top 100.

There don't seem to be near me. DD is 1 and I only know one Olivia and that's out of all my friends, DD's nursery and all the other babies I met on maternity leave.

Isn't Oliver the most popular boys name too? I've not met one of them Confused

Meandacat · 04/07/2012 15:45

Cleaner at my work called her daughter Olivia. Another Olivia at DD's nursery.

My sister is 2 and she's called Olivia. Only one I know

Francesca & Olivia sound lovely together but don't pick a popular name if you really want to avoid your daughter being one of many in her class. Personally, I don't want my own children to have very commonplace names so I'd avoid using anything charting in the top 50 or so unless I really loved it.

Stellan · 04/07/2012 15:16

Olivia and Oliver - the two most popular names in England and Wales in 2010 (most recent data). Your Olivia is much more likely to be in a class with another than your Francesca (102nd most popular girls' name in 2010). It doesn't mean that she will be, it's just that she's unlikely to be the only one in the school with the name.

My dd aged 7 is Olivia . When we named her we didn't know it was popular at all!
There is one more Olivia in her year group at school ( not in same class) but every time ( I mean every time!) we go out anywhere it is a name we hear called out alot!
I still love it though...and it's no more common than Emily, Sophie, Rebecca - all these have at least two in our year group too!
