We're desperately trying to find a name that sounds good with our surname, which is Otter. We think we've got a name if this DC is a girl (Rosalie Joy) but still stumped for a boy. We already have Francis, William and Daisy.

DH just suggested Cameron, opinions on this name?

Hugely popular name north of the border.

Lovely name. It always reminds me of the character from ferris bueller's day off.

My DP wanted to call DS that but I didn't like it. I don't know why Sad

FrillyMilly · 03/07/2012 12:36

I have a Cameron. We really struggled to agree on a name we liked as we have a really common surname so we wanted a name that was traditional but not too common.

No one mentions David Cameron when I tell people his name, in fact he is always complimented on what a lovely name it is.

Cameron Otter

Notter will be the shortening' notta-chance would be my guess (I have four boys, I know these things sadly)

UnSocialite · 03/07/2012 12:30

I agree that having an 'o' sound towards the end does make the flow a bit odd but there are so few names that flow well with our surname and aren't already used by family members.

Camoron Otter?

Sounds fine although I'd prefer a name not ending in 'o' or 'on'.

LOVED this name all my life but can't stand the PM so can't use it... please use it for me!

AlpinePony · 03/07/2012 12:06

The PM's name is David.

My pfb is Cameron so of course I'm biased.

Why a Cuban man chose to name his daughter Cameron I'll never know! ;)

VolAuVent · 03/07/2012 12:06

Cameron Mackintosh seems to have done OK :)

usualsuspect · 03/07/2012 12:03

I know quite a lot of Camerons, No ones ever said anything about the DC connection

VolAuVent · 03/07/2012 11:58

If you don't mind the David Cameron connection, and it being used as a girls' name as well (Cameron Diaz) it's fine.

Great name
