Had ds2 five weeks ago and cannot find a name that DH and I can agree on, its like we didn't know for the last year nearly that we were having a baby!!
Already have ds1 Henry so want something that goes with this.
So far the poor little thing has been...
Theodore, hugo, and Freddie.
My absolute fave is Freddie but DH won't agree, I've tried everything to get him to give in (he usually does) and he is still saying no to it, his argument being that he's never liked it particularly and I got to choose Henry.
Others include max, and as our surname is Johnson... Johnny.
Is Johnny different in a not kind of used much way? Does it make you think of durex? (my ironing ladies frank opinion!)
Anyone got any ideas? We've only got a week until we have to register the little beauty!
Please help!

nice choice of name Smile , I totally empathise with not being able to choose a name. DD is 5 weeks on Wednesday and nameless. Oh to live in Greece I could easily delibarate for a year on what to call her.

marriedinwhite · 02/07/2012 07:23

Lovely name. Glad you chose the long version for the paperwork.

milkymocha · 02/07/2012 00:45

Well done Grin
Little Maximus, brilliant name!
Lovely little brother of Henry x

FootballFriendSays · 01/07/2012 23:12

I think Thomas would go well with your surname and with Henry.

I was the same and it took us about 4 weeks. He was just little man and baby for a while. it got to the stage though where my mum was going ape and getting really upset ( she was embarassed when asked) so we finally just went for one. tbh left to our own devises im not sure we would ever had made up our minds.

Max sounds fab. Agree it is done now and that you will talk about it no more!

Stellarforstar · 01/07/2012 22:36

Leo?

gemmakate · 01/07/2012 22:29

Yes milky we refer to his as baby! Think it's natural to do that as most babies just look like babies, not Alberts or Hugos!
It's not a major deal chubfudder, we obviously will select a name but want it to be the right one! It is forever! And has got to see him through toddler years, childhood - and eventually manhood... Not an easy task!
Think we are there anyway.
Maximus Johnson, Max for short.
Thanks for all the helpful input everyone. Think I may pour myself a small wine to celebrate!

Freddie is cute - personally, I would go for Frederick.

marriedinwhite · 01/07/2012 22:24

We loved Freddie; it was our first choice name but rather like you and Johnny Johnson it just didn't ring with our surname. We chose something in the end not unlike Fred Smile. For the second (which turned out to be a girl) we loved Theodore (Ted) but it wouldn't have worked with ds Grin. DS1 was very nearly a Hugo but we changed at the last.

Shortlisted other names were: Oliver, Oscar, Thomas, Arthur. DS 2 was Alexander Louis but that's another story.

DS's classmates are: George, Fred, Will, Harry, Ed, Tom, Matthew etc Can't really go wrong.

milkymocha · 01/07/2012 22:15

They refer to the infant as just that.. 'the baby/child/boy/girl etc'

My son is 13 weeks old and very rarely gets called his name, we call him the baby Blush iam trying to make an effort to call him his name!

Freddie is a nice name.
How about:

  • Stanley
  • Vinnie
  • Ralph
  • Max

?? I wouldnt go gor Johnny though, bit too much. How about Donny?

Bunbaker · 01/07/2012 22:10

"I just can't my head around the thought of a nameless person. How do you address him? Or refer to him in conversation?"

I was wondering that as well. I must admit I do think it is odd not being able to give your baby a name after 5 weeks.

joyciegirl · 01/07/2012 21:55

Freddie is lovely! i have taught some great kids called Freddie.

gemmakate · 01/07/2012 21:41

Am laughing in bed with my husband at Boris!!!
Never even thought of that!

Apparently in Greece parents don't officially name their baby until they reach their first birthday, as they believe the child's personality shows by this age and it's possible o find a suitable name for the child. That would suit me down to the ground!
Does anyone like freddie? Think my husband may relent! And now I need to be sure! What is the opinion on Freddie Johnson, does it go with his brother Henry too?
Thanks everyone for the opinions!
