Made-up name

OK, I don't want to give the actual name that I am thinking of (for a baby of either sex - due to be born in 2 weeks - eek!) but here is the formula/ problems:

Rhymes with two different names, one of each sex, so doesn't have an 'odd' ring to it.

Is not an actual name but is a word with positive associations - not a very long word BTW

Is not slang for anything nor the name of anything odd (as far as I can see from extensive google searches) - except for being the name of one (innocuous enough) body part in another language e.g. (but not) Japanese for elbow

I like the sound of it, I am sure that some friends will think it's an odd choice or even odd to make up a name but I don't like very popular names and this would have meaning for me.

What do you think - mad or brilliant?!

How can u expect people to say whether its good or bad if u dont say the name.

EdithWeston · 22/06/2012 13:57

Possibly something with "Jo" in it, if it's an Asian elbow?

ceeveebee · 22/06/2012 13:02

Go on give us the first letter. It's like a riddle

Barry, carrie and marry?
Bill, jill and dill?

marzipananimal · 22/06/2012 12:59

Impossible to say without hearing it. I generally dislike made up names but if it was a really good one...

marchpoppy · 22/06/2012 12:59

Hee Hee probably someone will guess - it's not Cube! I quite like Jichelle but it's none of the above.

If only the serious business of baby-naming didn't have to be planned with the cocktail of crazy-making hormones swilling around my brain, and no DP to mitigate that (as single). I THINK I trust my own instincts on this, but then again this is me speaking who absent-mindedly (baby brain) put the tomato ketchup in the washing machine this morning...

Bicola?

Landrew?

Jichelle?

Galex?

Every name has been made up at some point.

If the name is easy to pronounce/spell, sounds good with your surname and has meaning to you, then why not?

Names are given to identify a person, so it might serve a better purpose at doing that than giving your child a super popular name (that needs a modifier to identify it).

Indith · 22/06/2012 12:51

Well we can't really judge without knowing what it is! Lots of things could fit what you've said but still be odd. Cube. Similar sound to Jude, isn't slang or rude in any way I can think of. Would be very odd.

Mad.

You know you're going to have spill dontcha?

It's MN law.

Mad. Just give the child a proper name, and save him/her the inconvenience of having to spell it and explain it for the next 80+ years!
