I really like Kyle. I think it has a nice sound, and I love the Scottish connections as I'm a big fan of Scottish names.
The Kyle I know is lovely, and not at all 'chavvy'.

Which unpopular names do you love?

Dixie. I love it.

PeaTarty · 23/06/2012 19:26

A friend of a friend wanted lemony. We wondered if she would later want an orangey to go with it . . .

CockBollocks · 23/06/2012 19:24

Lemony

Sharon. It's been ruined by popular culture, but I think it's lovely.

MammaTonic · 23/06/2012 19:19

Sorry, a "gay hairdresser".

I gots to find me some new friends ...

MammaTonic · 23/06/2012 19:18

Don't know why people thought Sebastian is a 'gay' name. Four friends of mine independently said this. I asked them why and they couldn't delve deeper: only one added insult to injury and imagined Sebby as a hairdresser.

I still love the name.

Dinosaurdrip · 23/06/2012 17:58

Ds2 is Sebastian and I love it! Don't think anyone said they thought it sounded gay but maybe they were just being polite.

I really like talulah but just don't have the guts.

Spike.

I love it, wanted it for DS but DH hated it, says it's a dogs name.

cece · 23/06/2012 16:57

Wesley

and

Lance.

No one else seems to even like them, yet I love them!

Polkadotfanatic · 23/06/2012 16:56

I love love the name Teagan but most look at me like I should be wearing a Kappa tracksuit with heels when I tell them.... it's meaning is Little Poet which I think is gorgeous.

I also really like Posy - MN is the only place I have seen that name have a good reception...

Boys names - Seth and Amos - ''are you planning on giving birth to sheep farmers?''

Great thread...

Lolalollipop · 23/06/2012 16:49

Mrsnatsparkle I love Cleo too!

I also strangely love Ethel x

JamieandTheOlympicTorch · 23/06/2012 16:33

I love both but, at best get "meh" faces when I mention it

I also love Raphael

TodaysAGoodDay · 23/06/2012 16:31

Julian. It sounds gay to me, but I love it.

MrsNatSparkle · 23/06/2012 16:29

Tell me that* damn iPhone!

MrsNatSparkle · 23/06/2012 16:28

I love Cleo for a girl but everyone that I mention it to either makes a funny face or pretends they haven't heard it and they'll me tht by love he boys name we have picked!

Lannie33 · 22/06/2012 03:16

LOL i love this thread!! BTW, Kyle is a very nice name IMO. No clue what 'chavvy' means (i'm Canadian) but here Kyle has no negative connotations. You could move to Canada and have a little Kyle no problem :)

My guilty pleasure is Kylie (which is v unpopular on MN, but not as unpopular in Canada). Also Eleanor and Vivian which DH says are grandmother names. I like Soriya but I'm not even not remotely Indian and my friends say it sounds like Psoriasis.

For boys: Axel, Kaien (pronounced KY-an) and Aivar (pronounced Ivor). I like Sebastian too but my DH also said it's "gay".

PS I know a Molly, she's a smart cardiologist and a lovely person.

IHeartKingThistle · 22/06/2012 00:06

Raphael is just beautiful.

vinobaroness · 22/06/2012 00:00

I think Molly is so sweet but it seems to be hated on here... I love Raphael too unrequited:)

UnrequitedSkink · 21/06/2012 22:40

Lulu is easy though, you can have as a nn! I get Lulu. Love Hamish :)

poppy283 · 21/06/2012 22:28

I love Lulu for a youngest child, and Hamish for a boy

Lunarlyte · 21/06/2012 21:57

Sebastian.

If DD1 had been a boy, this was a serious contender for me. Everyone who I sounded the name out to thought that it sounded 'gay' ...
