I really like Kyle. I think it has a nice sound, and I love the Scottish connections as I'm a big fan of Scottish names.
The Kyle I know is lovely, and not at all 'chavvy'.

Which unpopular names do you love?

I love

Augusta
Della
Hester

But DH and my family say they are all awful.

Hedwig3 · 16/07/2012 09:36

Nora Sad

...and I don't see how I can use a name that many people automatically put a swear word in front of.

NoComet · 16/07/2012 00:51

Nothing wrong with Libby!

I know a very cute Liberty "very dull surname", the slightly unusual first name balances it perfectly.

Devora · 15/07/2012 23:50

Jaden
Jordan
Dora
Seth
Amos
Asa
Rachel
Noah
Arthur
Walter
Ruth

Peregrine! Fab name.

KnickerKnockers · 15/07/2012 22:09

My DS3 was Fabian through pregnancy but we chickened out after his Birth - when I told my Uncle we nearly named him that he said 'you may as well have tattooed ''bully me'' on his head'. I still love it - and I loved Eugene too.
PS. One of my Uncle's DD's is called Cleo :D but I love that name on her.

TigerFeet · 14/07/2012 15:54

Inigo, Ivo, Hero, Cleo, Romilly, Darcy, Dulcie,

Kneedeepinshittynappies · 14/07/2012 15:35

I loved seve after the golfer but dh thought I was mental and ds now has the most normal name ever since we never could agree on boys name! Almost went with vincent which weboth loved but got so much stick from anyone we told we chickened out. With dd I loved Josephine and nancy but lots of cats bum faces from family and friends. Moral of the story, don't tell anyone before they arrive, no one will say they hate it once little person actually here.

Jackie432 · 14/07/2012 07:52

Agnes gets a thumbs down when I mention it to my family but I love it!

UnrequitedSkink · 01/07/2012 21:38

Lilibet is cute! Maybe better as a nn but still very sweet.

MacMac123 · 29/06/2012 19:44

Lilibet for a girl

Spike for a boy!

Keepthechangeyoufilthyanimal · 29/06/2012 17:02

Ava is probably my fave girls name, yet everyone seems to hate it atm as it is so common!

DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 29/06/2012 16:48

winkle2 · 29/06/2012 16:08

Love Ophelia!

ThatllDoPig · 29/06/2012 11:12

People probably think Sebastian is a gay name after Little Britain. The Prime ministers assistant.

It makes me think of a Sebacious gland.

My boys name that I love that no one else does is Julian too.

Ursula - I love it but most people I know dont

tammytoby · 26/06/2012 21:25

"I do think you can change people's view of a name by using it, because it becomes associated with your child (who is obviously fabulous)"

Absolutely. Which is why talking about names in isolation is really not helpful imo. I know some lovely Sebastians, Quentins and evev a Tallulah, so my view of these names is very positive, for example.

steppemum · 26/06/2012 21:02

Eldritch - I have a miriam, used to think it sounds serious til I met a little miriam who was like a ray of sunshine, one of my favourite kids ever. So I used it, and now get loads of positive comments on how pretty it is, and my Miriam is a ray of smiley sunshine too.
I do think you can change people's view of a name by using it, because it becomes associated with your child (who is obviously fabulous :) )
I hat all popular names, in fact I go out of my way to not use a name if it is popular or trendy. I love the idea that there won't be another child with that name in their class

love some of the names on here.

GoldenGreen · 26/06/2012 20:31

Jason.

LaFataTurchina · 26/06/2012 20:21

Love Sebastian! Have only ever met nice ones (usually floppy haired posh and attractive).

Meadow - I know it's not really a name but I get all these lovely connotations of a child skipping through a flowery meadow in summer.

Liberty (nn. Libby)

Caterina - probably sounds nice to English people but my mother says it is frumpy and old fashioned in Italy.

Stella - love it pronounced in Italian, not keen on it pronounced in English

WithACherryOnTop · 26/06/2012 15:25

I love Julian,Quentin and Eric.
