I knew of a Dalmatian called Domino.
Fabulous name for a dog

FirCough · 21/06/2012 22:06

I've heard worse. A lot worse.

lottiegb · 21/06/2012 21:22

As in Domino Harvey, bounty hunter - Kiera knightly film of a few years go, the real woman died in her bath the same year.

Quite nice name in a way but no.

My cat is called Domino.

Anonymumous · 21/06/2012 21:11

My Mum had a friend called Domini - it never occurred to us that there was anything especially strange about her name.

Badgerina · 21/06/2012 19:15

Pizza.

jaffacakehips · 21/06/2012 19:11

Domino was a Bond Girl, twice in fact.

Thurerball and Never Say Never Again, with Kim Basinger in the 80"s. Does you DH fancy Ms Basinger Grin Real name in the books where either Dominetta or Dominique nn Domino.

Minty82 · 21/06/2012 18:21

I was at school with a Domino - we thought it was unusual but not THAT weird, and she certainly never got bullied for it! And I'd have thought it would stand out far less these days when there are so many more names in circulation.

bex2011 · 21/06/2012 18:17

I used to work with a lovely Domino. She was named after the Bond girl. She also had a very posh surname which made her name stand out even more. It's not a name I would choose.

Is your dh a pet shop boys fan by any chance OP?
I kind of like it in a way but as others have pointed out a bit open to mick-taking.

No - Dominique if he must, though ...

Quip · 21/06/2012 16:13

isn't that 2nd declension dative or ablative for Master/Lord

So domino equates to "to, by, with or from the master"

a bit odd IMO.

Frontpaw · 21/06/2012 16:05

Domi-whywouldyoudothat?

Blatherskite · 21/06/2012 15:58

Domi-no

HerMajestyQueenHillyzabethII · 21/06/2012 15:58

Domino is a bit silly but Domini or Dominique are proper names.

amck5700 · 21/06/2012 15:56

...and btw OP, was he truly serious??? .......and you are having a baby with this man? It actually makes me think of an insult that you would give to someone rather than a name for a child - wouldn't even know if it's meant to be for a boy or a girl.

amck5700 · 21/06/2012 15:53

red ruby - lol!!! Didn't they do a song about that on Still Game??

PestoSandalissimos · 21/06/2012 15:39

MamaLou13 your DH isn't Alex Reid perchance?
