Sarah Elizabeth / Oscar Louie

Dp and I really like Sarah. I think Elizabeth goes well with it, but I don't know if it's too much to verbally pronounce. Also dp loves Louie, but although I think it's cute, don't think it's a 'whole' name. It seems like it's short for something and I think a Louie would be naughty! So i've come up with Oscar Louie instead. On both female and male names we wouldn't use the second name except for when the child is being naughty perhaps!

Another Sarah Elizabeth! Love my name. Daughter also has Elizabeth as a middle name. Goes really well and isn't too much.

Both are lovely but Oscar Louie has the edge for me.

Littlecherublegs · 21/06/2012 12:26

I think Sarah Elizabeth is fine - other suggestions are Sarah Louise, Sarah Jane or Sarah Marie?

Like Oscar too though not as keen on Louie. The Oscar I know is Oscar James.

My gran is Sarah Elizabeth :) everyone calls her Lizzie though.

Mad as in really cross I mean...

I'm Sarah Elizabeth too! And so is my SIL... In fact there are a lot of 30 somethings with that combination. I love it too though & always have. Think it's very classic and won't date too badly. We're considering Elizabeth as a middle name for our baby (DC3) due in 2 weeks, it's a family name too & we've done that with the others. Not too much of a mouthful at all, though substantial enough if you're really mad!!

Oscar Louie sounds a bit like Skarloey, one of the trains from Thomas the Tank.

Just saying.

I have a Sarah, 3mo, love it!!

Louie is just an anglicised Louis (pronounced the same), isn't it? The usual spelling might make it look a bit more 'finished', IYSWIM?

I am a Sarah Elizabeth! I know it is hard to be objective with your own name, but I personally like it (apart from some periods when I was younger and thought it a bit dull. I'm also from a generation where every second person's name inexplicably seems to be Elizabeth! But now I love my easy-to-spell but not as common as you'd think lovely sounding name which people tend to have positive associations with!).

I don't think that Elizabeth is too long, especially as it is such a classic, well-known name which rolls off the tongue. I think it goes better with Sarah, as two syllables, than a one syllable name like Jane, which might seem a bit unbalanced, if that makes sense? I've never really thought too hard about my name before but it is interesting!

My surname is three syllables, and have never been aware of people finding my full name it too much of a mouthful. Also it easily fits on all forms etc.

I also love the name Oscar!

Congratulations on your upcoming arrival xxx

Congratulations. If you think Elizabeth may be too long though, how about Sarah Louise?

The only Oscar I know is a lovely child (though sometimes naughty, so moving Louie to be the middle name may not 'save' you from the naughtiness Grin ).
