What do you think when you first hear or see it?

We have one and she gets Tabby, Tabs or Taffa (from DS), mainly Tabitha though. Clearly I think it's a fab name. We do get mixed responses when we tell people her name, so if this along with the constant cat and witch comments don't put you of then go for it. But don't everyone go and use it!

DailyMailSpy · 12/06/2012 19:51

I love it, my god-daughter is called tabitha, her nickname was tabba for ages cos DS couldn't say her name properly.

madhairday · 12/06/2012 19:41

I also have a Tabitha so rather love the name. She is Tabs and Tabi and sometimes tabster as per one of the above posts :) People have often mentioned Bewitched and cats but I don't mind that. She totally suits her name - she's tall, willowy and scatty.

Pochemuchka · 12/06/2012 19:38

Not my cup of tea.
Makes me think of a rotund, homely, middle aged woman (sorry!)

Cuddler · 12/06/2012 19:34

I have a Tabitha, she is very girly,in an old fashioned way so it really suits her.It does remind most people (including me)of cats, but i love cats and she is quite cat like!So i dont mind.

ditavonteesed · 12/06/2012 18:58

oh my dd is either tabs or tabi.

ditavonteesed · 12/06/2012 18:56

I think she is goregous and funny and clever and can be a bit feisty and grouchy, lovely long curly hair. did I mention I have one so obviously love it :)

Very pretty name-however the only one I know [4yo] is known as Bitsy which is truly horrible imho.

OrangeIsNotTheOnlyFruitshoot · 12/06/2012 18:07

Cat then Bewitched. I think it's an ugly name.

spring here "Tabs" means cigarettes!

TheHouseOnTheCorner · 12/06/2012 17:29

Love it. I wanted it for Dd but DH said no. I STILL think of her as Tabitha.

NettoSuperstar · 12/06/2012 17:28

Love it.
I'd have chosen it had I ever had a second girl.

Minstrelsaremarvellous · 12/06/2012 17:26

I've a little Tabitha who gets called The Tabster...... People seem to love it!

StepOutOfSpring · 12/06/2012 17:24

"Tabs" is slang for either ears or drugs.

StillSquiffy · 12/06/2012 17:13

Hugh Grant's DD has just been named Tabitha.

salt1 · 12/06/2012 17:11

love itx

Justfeckingdoit · 12/06/2012 17:10

Love it. Mind you I have come to realise that most of the names I like are characters from Jilly Cooper novels.

Rindercella · 12/06/2012 17:09

I quite like it. Makes me think of a twitchy nose. And then a cat.

Susieloo · 12/06/2012 17:07

I love it, this is still my number one name if it's a girl, due in July, DP on the other hand will not entertain it at all, he can't get over the possibility of her nn being Tabby and therefore cat like. I don't think I'm going to be able to change his mind.

Mechavivzilla · 12/06/2012 17:06

this makes me smile Sastra, Felix was also on our short list!

Sastra · 12/06/2012 17:04

I don't mind the cat connection ( but I also love Felix for a boy, so maybe this is revealing something about me...).

I also love Tabby and Tabs as nn.

It goes really well with our surname too (which is no mean feat) and DH doesn't hate it (which is no mean feat).

Interesting HipHop, I hate what I consider to be frilly girls names although Tabitha doesn't fall into that category for me. I think frilly when I hear Arabella, Clarissa, Felicity . . . .

Frilly seems to be a state of mind!

slothprincess · 12/06/2012 16:50

I have a baby Tabitha and we get so many compliments on her name. I happen to love cats so don't mind the feline association at all! Grin
