Hi all,
My DP has suggested Mirran for a girl. I wasn't sure at first but it's growing on me, would like to know people's thoughts on this?
We are due a little surprise in sept, our boys name is decided, but struggling with names for a wee girl.
Xx

Wee nurse - I think she is a muireann then with a cod mel Gibson/American pronunciation. Not sure what it says In the titles at the end but think it will be this name.

EverybodysSleepyEyed · 08/06/2012 20:58

When I first read the thread title I thought this was going to be about the Mirena coil

is this a real name? does it mean something nice? If so then go for it. If not, go for a more usual spelling (like Merryn - I know of 2)

shinyblackgrape · 08/06/2012 20:58

Muireann I think is pronounced "mee-ran". Atleast the ones I know have been although it might not be generic of course

If it is muireann, I think it should be spelled as such

WeeNurse27 · 08/06/2012 20:56

Yes mirren is good, as is merryn! Aaarrgghh confusion x

I know a Mirren, I prefer this spelling

Stellan · 08/06/2012 20:54

Is it from the Irish name Muireann/Muirenn? Not quite sure how to spell it, sorry!

I would spell it Mirren. I quite like it. Merryn is nice too.

shinyblackgrape · 08/06/2012 20:52

Merryn is nice!

I knew it was making me think of something poppy. Thanks for saying Dame Helen or I would have been up all night!

PoppyWearer · 08/06/2012 20:50

Makes me think about Dame Helen, sorry.

Merryn is a similar but lovely name. Cornish and it shortens to "Merry".

I think it sounds made up to be honest. . Like a misspelling of Miriam. Is Miriam an option?
