anyone know an Octavia, and what does it get shortened to? I love it, but want a nickname option too...

I went to school with one called Tocky, and one inexplicably known as Chippy.

Octavia is lovely. I would let the nickname evolve naturally. I don't know any - nice choice!

I met an Occy once, she's late twenties now. Have heard of Tavi, short for Octavia. You could even go for Avia or Avi I would guess, but I like Tavi the best. :)

I knew an Octavia called Occy in school

LadyPeterWimsey · 02/06/2012 20:54

I knew an Octavia who was Tick Tock (or TIk Tok? Not sure. Her mother is sometimes on MN though so she may correct me ( - do you know who this is? Grin))

Ooo the husband hasn't given it an outright no, this is a good sign!!!

No no! Don't be put off! Check out on the baby names website and see what the trend is.
It is quite posh, and I know a lot of posh people, so maybe that is why I know a few.
The short version that I know is as you've written it. I think it's a gorgeous name.

TheGrandOldDuke · 02/06/2012 20:37

As in Tay-vee for pronunciation.
I don't know any round where we are, but put off if it's becoming popular.
Hmmm I just can't find a name that's right. It's stressing me out!!!!!!!!!

Tavy.

Jilly Cooper used that. Grin
Love the name though. It's posh but not OTT. Think it's on the way up as know 3 born in the last 2 years.

Akermanis · 02/06/2012 20:35

Skoda?

peachypips · 02/06/2012 20:34

I have seen Tavy used, like Tory for Victoria.

MoonlightandRoses · 02/06/2012 20:33

The only one I knew was always just Octavia. Perhaps 'O' or 'Taffy' (might be a bit non-PC for the UK that one though)?

It's a lovely name.
