I am going round in circles.

If I list my current shortlist and my other dcs names please can you give me your views on the list, and also any other ideas are really welcome.

Current Shortlist: (changes daily though!)

Cecilia
Cecily
Alice
Elinor (but don't like Ellie)
Arabella (but see other dds names)
Catherine (Kitty?)
Felicity
Imogen
Miranda
Martha

Other dds are

Alexandra - but known by her middle name of Poppy
Isabella
Phoebe

ds's are

Charles (Charlie)
Edward (Ned).

I am probably overthinking this now but she is 2 weeks old and i am getting fed up with being asked by everyone if "I've named that baby yet". I got called a cruel mother yesterday for not naming her!.

I had thought to stick with Cecily, but reactions from people haven't been very good and dh isn't very keen on it although he is willing to go along with it. also the other dds all have a view on the name, as does DH. I can't find one that seems to the one. Would like to avoid top 10 names - when we named Isabella it was in the 40s in the list and now it has shot up and I slightly regret using it now.

(I realise that I have completely outed myself to those people who know me in RL, so hello if you know me!).

Cecily is lovely, and under used IMO.

How about Dorothea, nn. Thea? Another beautiful, classic but underused name.

Annunziata · 25/05/2012 14:07

Elena or Helena?

TheMightyMojoceratops · 25/05/2012 14:07

I was thinking the other day that Austerity would be a lovely name for a girl...
Or maybe not. Wink

Theas18 · 25/05/2012 14:00

You've got to have a Thea. Thea's are wonderful and it fits so perfectly with your other names Wink not that I'm at all biased.

Franup · 25/05/2012 13:58

Picked Martha for one of mine 6 years ago and I still adore it. So that has my vote and I think it fits with the other name.

redrubyshoes · 25/05/2012 13:56

Althea

GoPoldark · 25/05/2012 13:56

Romilly Alice Daisy!

Then your DDs will each have 'chosen' a name.

Lovely.

Gunznroses · 25/05/2012 13:49

How about "Meredith" ? Ive always liked that.

HalleLouja · 25/05/2012 13:43

Greek / Russian names in my family. Well the prettier ones.

Chrystalla
Louisa
Natalia
Ellena
Yolanda (not my fave)

I know you are not after Greek names per se.

I do like Miranda.

babyblabber · 25/05/2012 13:29

Alice is gorgeous

Longdistance · 25/05/2012 13:27

Hey, I have an Eleanor, and Alice :) so like both. Their middle names are Lilly, and Elizabeth. Do you have a pic of ur lo?
That's what we did. When both dd's were born, we had a list of about 5 names, and chose from there x

ASByatt · 25/05/2012 13:27

Sophia?

redrubyshoes · 25/05/2012 13:25

Elowen

JudithTaverner · 25/05/2012 13:24

Persephone got rejected by DH this time. How do you pronounse Ismene?

I like Hebe, but rhymes with Phoebe so maybe not. I also like Hero, but DH rejected that too. Agatha and Agnes also rejected by H.

I am off to look up Romilly I think.

outtolunchagain · 25/05/2012 13:09

What about Hebe

interregmum · 25/05/2012 12:55

Susanna

Plonker · 25/05/2012 12:54

Cecilia - I don't like this
Cecily - For some reason, I like this much better than Cecilia. It's sassier.
Alice - I wouldn't use this if you have an Alexandra
Elinor - don't use if you don't like Ellie. You can't control what her friends call her ...
Arabella (but see other dds names) - definitely don't use alongside Isabella
Catherine (Kitty?) - I think Katherine works better for Kitty (I love Kitty, and it works beautifully with your dd's names
Felicity - this is lovely and works very well with your children's names
Imogen - this is quite popular and appears to be getting even more so
Miranda - Lovely.
Martha - Martha is a name that I just don't get. Everyone that I know loves it but I really dislike it. I never know why though Blush

I love the suggestions of Romilly and Thea - gorgeous!

I also like Hermione Smile

What about:
Lucia
Meredith (Merri)
Sophia

Frakiosaurus · 25/05/2012 12:53

Ooh Dorothea is nice!

I think Ottilie actually sounds quite ugly in English, like utterly/otterly. In French it's o-tee-lee, in German o-ti-lee-uh with a very faint uh.

peachypips · 25/05/2012 12:50

I LOVE Imogen. So beautiful and classy!

ThisIsYourSong · 25/05/2012 12:48

If you like Thea then what about Dorothea, it can be a NN

JudithTaverner · 25/05/2012 12:32

in the spirit of outing myself completely, my father is greek cypriot, so i do have a slight fondness for greek names.

I wonder about the Cecily/Cecilia thing and can't decide which one I like the most. Is Cecilia very german/scandinavian?

and Ottilie is it pronounced with all syllables having equal emphasis (so like Utterly?) or is there an emphasis on the middle syllable?

will dump Elinor from the list I think.
