Our second DS is due any day now and we are still undecided about names. DS1 is called Arlo do we need a name that compliments that without being too 'out there'.

Please critique the following and let me know if you can think of any others:

Caspar
Jamie (james on the birth cert)
Edward
Nathaniel (nn Nate)
Elijah
Theodore (theo)
Jacob

I think Caspar or James would go best with Arlo.

I think Casper goes best with Arlo though Im not a particular fan of the name.

of your names I think Elijah works best, but Ezra would be my choice, popped into my head when I read your OP, so agree with PPs.

All are fine names but the following do not compliment Arlo's style:
James/Jamie
Edward
Nathaniel
Elijah
Theodore
Jacob

They are great but a bit run-of-the-mill compared to Arlo! I think they might all be in the top 50/100 names. I think you should avoid names ending in O (i.e. Theo) although I am dying to suggest Bruno to you.

Caspar is great choice: Arlo & Caspar. The suggestions of Ezra and Raphael are bang on too. Arlo & Ezra. Arlo & Raphael. Arlo & Rafe.

Other names I'd match with Arlo:
