She will be called Coz by everyone but thats quite nice I think.

Well it seems to be a marmite name Smile DH isn't hugely keen, so I'll drop it for the time being play the long game

All we're really looking for is strong name yet feminine too. Which isn't in the top 100 or least top 50 Blush like DD's.

I love it and I don't think the M surname following would be a problem. I think of it as more of a German name since the one I know is German (and I always thought it had Greek roots).

Would your DH like Pernilla?

Pretentious you say...I say clearly she has flamboyant mother parents Grin I really couldn't give a monkeys about names being pretentious. won't tell you that I also really like India Wink It's either too posh or too chavtastic, haha!

DDs acquaintance was known as Cozy by her (German) family if that's any help.

Ehm, actually I am Italian and Cosima is simply not a very pretty name... It's a "grandmother's" name, and not in a good way. Think "Enid". I suppose it's a bit more popular in the South, but then there there is more of a tradition of naming children after their GPs anyway.

There are plenty of pretty Italian names if you are so inclined though!

I quite like it. Far better than all those other Greek names that do the rounds on here, Persephone, Appollonia etc.

Nigella Lawson's daughter is Cosima and is always known as Mimi now.

I've always really liked it, though if I were considering it seriously I might start wondering how I felt about the possible 'Cossie' nickname, which would recall swimming trips in the 80s for me. That might not be a bad thing Grin.

I think it's prn like a bit like 'gossamer'. I don't like it. Sounds a bit pretentious unless you're Italian.

I know it's the pronunciation is a problem as I'm also not hugely sure which way to say it....however i've read it's KO-zi-ma yet i'm not very keen on KO-zi-ma!

Ahhh that's a lovely name!! I think it can be pronounced a few different ways Cosy ma.......Coz zee ma......Cas ee ma ??? Not sure which is the proper way though!
