List of babies born at my local (American) hospital - April

Fishpond · 11/05/2012 05:25

Background:

Been doing this since December. The parents have agreed to have their babies listed by name, picture, birthdate, and parents' names on my local hospital's webpage so they are public to all. I only include first names to try to maintain some semblance of privacy although the middle names are included on the page. I live in a midwestern American town of about 80-100,000.

Interesting note this month - 63 boys and 63 girls born Smile

Some really spectacular ones this month ladies Grin

SweetPea3 · 11/05/2012 16:49

This is all just too funny! :)

PhyllisDoris · 11/05/2012 15:00

What awful names! (with the odd exception)

MummysLittleSunbeams · 11/05/2012 14:56

Ah yes fondle - I had someone like that. I gave her loads of lovely Irish names & do you know what she decided to call her baby.... Irelynne ffs

There was one asking for an opinion of Envyy the other day! Grin

FondleWithCare · 11/05/2012 14:10

God, Babycentre sounds worse than What to Expect baby name board.

They also do the chopping of family names and mixing them with other names. It also seems really popular to give a girl a male name but a "feminine" spelling - Kevin becomes Keven, Ryan becomes Ryann, Charlie becomes Charleigh.

Popular names seem to be Jaxson, Maverick, Braxton and Hunter for a boy, Addison, McKenzie, Audrey, Presley and Paisley for a girl.

They also regularly have somebody come on and ask for an Irish name for a girl and the suggestions are Kennedy, Delaney, Ireland, Eire, Raegan and Katelyn, when anybody suggests an actual Irish name they're told it's too weird (Aoife is too similar to Adolf Hitler apparently Confused)

SecondRow · 11/05/2012 13:32

Grimma - that also sounds like someone off a Radio 4 panel game - Mr and Mrs Trouserpresse and their delightful daughter, Corby :)

SecondRow · 11/05/2012 13:30

I have never got sucked into a baby names thread before - must mean I'm getting broody! I find most of the boys names, well, not terrible - I wouldn't choose many of them but I wouldn't really think "poor kid" either. Not mad about a lot of the girls ones though.

You've inspired me to check my local hospital's baby gallery for April too - I will tell you the country after, unless anyone wants to guess :)

spider - it had to happen. I suppose parents nowadays are too young to have seen the tv news of desolate ex-steelworks etc. Maybe its been redeveloped and is now the sort of place you'd like associated with your LO...

but its still shut steelworks and trouserpresses to me.

5inthebed · 11/05/2012 13:14

Kynsleigh makes my eyes bleed.

On the subject of names, we went to Ds3s nursery open day and there was a (very white, very british) girl there called Cherish. She was very, erm, lively shall we say.

spiderlight · 11/05/2012 13:10

Grimma There's a little girl called Corby at my DS's school Hmm

squoosh · 11/05/2012 11:42

Brantley, Brilee, Braxton

They are some ugly and awkward to say names.

MummysLittleSunbeams · 11/05/2012 11:04

Oh yes they certainly love a Braxton over there!

bamboozledAardvark · 11/05/2012 10:18

Brayton :o

I think when using a place name people should evaluate said place before naming their child after it!

AkhalTeke · 11/05/2012 10:14

Oooh, Talon... that's weirdly cool..

Merrylegs · 11/05/2012 10:06

Thank the lord for Rosemary.

(Am Grin at Braxton)

badtime · 11/05/2012 09:58

DogEared, 'Gunnar' is a real Scandinavian name. Maybe 'Gunner' was bad spelling rather than NRA activism.

mummytime · 11/05/2012 09:16

I liked Braxton, I just wondered if the middle name was Hicks?

GrimmaTheNome · 11/05/2012 09:06

promise me you'll never leave me victor jenkins

sounds like the title of a R4 drama.

GrimmaTheNome · 11/05/2012 09:05

Of course, they'd spell it Bingleigh.. Hmm

GrimmaTheNome · 11/05/2012 09:04

Next time there's twins (both boys or possibly boy/girl), please suggest Bradford and Bingley.

DogEared · 11/05/2012 09:03

Actually LOLed at Promise Mynelm Victor Jenkins...

Brilliant list OP!
I think calling a person Truth is a very very very bad idea... (though I feel the same about Chastity... :o )

Gunner is horrible (wonder if they have Arsenal out there?)
Lots of -eigh names. Interesting.

YourFanjoIsNotAHandbag · 11/05/2012 08:55

promise me you'll never leave me victor jenkins

They named their child that??
Are they taking the piss?

If I was victor Jenkins I'd have been running for the hills the moment that name was mentioned.
The poor child

what the actual fuck

LST · 11/05/2012 08:54

My friend has a boy called Landon. And it's the drummer out of blink 182's (Travis) sons name too.

GrimmaTheNome · 11/05/2012 08:50

Gage? that's a sort of plum. (trains have gauges)

I live near Preston. Is there any British place name that some idiotic American hasn't bestowed on their child? I have a naughty urge sometimes to go on an american baby names thread and suggest some names which sound OK but the reality ain't quaint e.g. Corby.

Smellslikeweenspirits · 11/05/2012 08:41

Oh no that's lardon isn't it? Blush

Smellslikeweenspirits · 11/05/2012 08:41

Landon? Like a bit of bacon?
