Straw poll please which you prefer and why ?

Thinking of Thomas for a middle name.

Henry. No question. I too don't like nicknames as given names (prefer "John" to "Jack") and the Harvey thumbs-down has already been well-argued. I have a Henry myself and would never have considered the other 2 options.

In order
Henry
Harry

Harvey

Convert · 09/05/2012 08:00

I like Harvey. Harry is too common and Henry is getting that way.

Bucharest · 09/05/2012 07:59

Harry

Henry is becoming Harvey-esque given the ones I've met recently.

welovesausagedogs · 09/05/2012 07:53

Harvey is horrible.

I like both Henry and Harry but i think Henry Thomas works best for me

SLVC · 09/05/2012 07:47

(excuse the random apostrophe inserted by my helpful phone..)

SLVC · 09/05/2012 07:46

Another vote for Henry. There are a million Harry's and Harvey just not that great..

SodoffBaldrick · 09/05/2012 01:57

I would go with Henry on the birth certificate, an then you have options. Would never actually call a child Harry, but that's just my thing. It is alovely nn though.

Harvey is - I'm sorry to all Mums of Harveys - awful, and this has nothing to do with Katie Price.

mycatsaysach · 08/05/2012 22:01

henry is fab its ds middle name

Mspontipine · 08/05/2012 21:58

Harvey's the best name.

Chee · 08/05/2012 21:49

Henry

tunaday · 08/05/2012 18:37

Love Henry
Neutral about Harry and Harvey.

annalovesmrbates · 08/05/2012 18:27

I have a Henry with nn Harry so he can choose when he's older. So Harry or Henry.

VeronicaSpeedwell · 08/05/2012 18:25

Henry, though I too love SquigsyJoe Grin. I don't loathe Harvey though -- it's not a trendy name to me as I have an older cousin Harvey who is part of a very soberly named family. I really don't like nicknames on birth certificates, so would never go for Harry except as a Henry nickname (I realise we don't agree there!).

mathanxiety · 08/05/2012 17:52

Henry.

Though I think SquigsyJoe could really grow on me Grin.

Janoschi · 08/05/2012 17:23

Not keen on any but like Harvey the least. I know one in RL and he's a sweet kid, just find the name a bit cartoonish.

Montsti · 08/05/2012 13:49

Definitely Henry! As previously mentioned Harry is a recognized nn. for Henry so if you decide at a later stage you prefer Harry then you can call him that! Not keen on Harvey at all...

MrsJohnDeere · 08/05/2012 13:10

Henry. Much nicer name than Harry IMHO.

Total indifference to Harvey. I do know one in RL and it suits him.

Dee03 · 08/05/2012 13:03

My dog is Harvey so to me it's a dogs name, not a Childs Grin

happyhorse · 08/05/2012 12:59

Henry

I really liked Harry when pregnant, and still do, but am glad we didn't use it as every second little boy I meet at the moment is called Harry.

Harvey isn't terrible but not really my thing.

PestoPenguin · 08/05/2012 12:41

Henry

I know too many badly behaved middle class little boys calle Harry.
Harvey is lovely, but too strongly associated with Katie Price in my mind.

fabulousdarling · 08/05/2012 12:34

Too easy to make Harvey 'arvey and Harry 'arry. Go for Henry, good solid name.

Positiveplus · 08/05/2012 12:33

Prefer Harry out of the 3.

Henry is a little too 'posh' for me and Harvey is at the opposite end of the spectrum!

fluffygal · 08/05/2012 12:30

I like Harry, my SS is Harvey, I'm not keen.
