Interesting names

I'm not too hung up on names being unpopular or unusual, but I want DC2 to have an interesting name like DD (Hebe). We chose her name as we liked the origin and the story behind it. I also liked that it started with the letter 'H' as not many girls names do. We also have a steriotypically 'boring' surname so want to liven the DC's name up a bit!

We've already thought of

Eli
Angus
Zane
Rex
Idris

Kerensa
Luna
Isadora
Aurora
Pandora

What else can you suggest?

bamboozled, I completely understand. I know about 3 Steve Smiths and 4 John Smiths.... can be very confusing for everyone involved. Depending on what field you work, it can be particularly annoying if you can't be 'found' easily.

Dont be afraid of an 'out there' name, after all, once upon a time Wendy was 'unique' and unheard of.

I also think that with the current trend for quirky and origional, it won't be odd or unique to have an odd or unique name, iyswim, most people will have, in 30/40 years what would be considered odd or mis-spelt by todays standards.

Practice shouting it up the stairs "Rex.....get down for you tea!" "Fabienne, come here now!" sort of thing Grin

Oops didn't realise picking a name would be cause for a contraversial thread, Lisaro! We have a surname on a par with Smith when it comes to the number of them around. When growing up my name was used as the example name on an exam paper fgs! Sorry for not wanting that for my own DC Confused

Nothing wrong with an interesting name with a cool meaning of course, but I'm really not sure about naming a child Zed. Bit too Pulp Fiction.

Sophiesmummie · 07/05/2012 13:53

Lisaro, I don't see why the child would be poor... I applaud the parents for taking time to find a suitable, meaningful name for him/her.

Oh dear. The poor child.

That's very rude, lisaro. But then you are probably one of these people whose kids have bland, boring names. bamboozled should be applauded for looking for interesting names for her DC.
