Interesting names

I'm not too hung up on names being unpopular or unusual, but I want DC2 to have an interesting name like DD (Hebe). We chose her name as we liked the origin and the story behind it. I also liked that it started with the letter 'H' as not many girls names do. We also have a steriotypically 'boring' surname so want to liven the DC's name up a bit!

We've already thought of

Eli
Angus
Zane
Rex
Idris

Kerensa
Luna
Isadora
Aurora
Pandora

What else can you suggest?

My siblings and I grew up with very unusual names and it was fun. A conversation starter usually and there was never a kid in our class with the same name. If the kid is confident then the name will be cool no matter what it is! :)

Mahalia is an unusual and pretty name as in Mahalia Jackson.

Zéphirine is lovely, and the nn Zephi would be very cute! Also really like Una, thanks :)

Saul is good - not too out there, but interesting.

Hebe and Saul sound very good together.

Zéphirine

Zéphirine Drouhin is the thornless rose :o

Adore Isadora Aurora (especially) and Pandora from your girls list

How about: Xeven for a girl or Syrus for a boy?

Eli is one of my favourites too, although feel it might need a longer name to go with it? Not keen on Elijah though.

Out of your names i like Eli for a boy, but i don't think any of the others are as nice/unusual as Hebe

BikeRunSki · 07/05/2012 21:13

I would have been Ignatius if I'd been a boy. My dad was keen on interesting names!

LadyofWinterfell · 07/05/2012 21:10

I have a Merren!
Zenden for a DS?

bamboozledAardvark · 07/05/2012 21:06

Kezia and Seren are beautiful. Ignatius is unbelieveably cool but I don't think I would be brave enough!

Sorry, quickhide..!! Blush

FSB · 07/05/2012 20:40

Oo, love Anouk and idris...

Drawhide - DD was very nearly a Merryn as a lengthening for Mimi... Went for Cosima in the end and have never met another one.. :)

Go for it bamboozled, my name is not that unusual (in italy) but I was the only one in a school of 1000 girls and it was great never to have to be Isabelle B or Clare S

Merryn is my current favourite girls name- very close to my own DD's name, Meredith- I I think if I had heard Merryn when I was pregnant I would have used that instead!

Also:
Lowenna (cornish name)
Delilah
Seren

Gabriel
Ignatius
Nathaniel
Elijah
Ezekiel (nn Zeke)
