DH and I like the name for DC2 but we aren't welsh so would it be a bit strange? We like unusual names but not too outlandish!

My friend's mum was from Morocco, he was called Idris and it's also an arabic name, personally I love it!!

We're just a bit south of 'proper' North East so glad it's not seen as a bit weird there!

I love it too but to me it's the very cute dragon from Ivor the Engine and always prompts me to say 'do you know Land of My Fathers?' in a very dodgy Welsh accent.

He's a dragon who sings in a choir Grin

It's also a middle eastern name, I think.
I love the name but I personally wouldn't name my child with a name from another country. That's just me though. :)

I love the name, really wanted to call DS1 that but it just didn't suit him. More mainstream now with Idris Elba, I was all caught up in the idea of him being the hottest Welsh man ever but apparently it's short for Idrissa or something similar.

I have an Idris so am biased but I love it!

I have a welsh background but DH doesn't and we live in the North East.

For a boy or a girl? Makes me think of Idris Elba. It's nice.
