Its at the moment between Hector, Dexter or Rudy.

Hector? The kids have a supersized teddy bear called Hector.Grin

I like Rudy- I know a little girl named Rudy.

But I have heard it used for boys too.

A bit up itself?

Yes, a lot up itself.

Hector, n.

  1. Name of a Trojan hero celebrated in the Iliad; hence transf. A valiant warrior like Hector.
  1. (Now usu. with lower-case initial.) A swaggering fellow; a swash-buckler; a braggart, blusterer, bully.
  1. Name of a species of butterfly (Papilio Hector).

Number 2 would dissuade me from using it.

A fart is a Rudey, as is a burp!

shoobidoo · 04/05/2012 10:17

Hector is awful - it means 'bully' or 'tormentor' and to hector is to bully.
Also, would you shorten to Heck Hmm.

Rudy is to 'rude'y imo.

Dexter is a great, strong name.

Possibly, but I quite like it (a good, strong name - I studied Classics so good associations for me)! Not keen on Dexter and certainly not Rudy (that's what we referred to as a fart when we were growing up!)...

Im just thinking of that fab series/book The Slap!! Hector wasnt a nice person. I guess you could say that about Dexter.....

Another vote for Hector here. I had a friend who had it as a nn at school (no idea why...) and he was lovely, so good associations for me.

bibbitybobbitybunny · 03/05/2012 23:20

It is a bit, but I quite like it.

DioneTheDiabolist · 03/05/2012 23:20

Definitely Hector. I love Hector.

bibbitybobbitybunny · 03/05/2012 23:19

It is a bit, but I quite like it.

I think Hector is better than Dexter in the up-itself-stakes, but that is personal prejudice no doubt. I like Rudy, went to school with one.
