I need a middle name for a boy
I love names like Leo, Emilio, Angelo
Would Leo work as a middle name?

It has to be Greek
Any opinions and suggestions very welcome

Woohoo! I love Leo too. Is it Leonidas?

You can have my all-Greek shortlist.

Rafail/Rafael
Alexandros/Alexander
Ikaros
Orfeas

What is his first name?

Other names not on my shortlist, but from friends/relatives include

Konstantinos
Aggelos (pn. Angelos but you probs know that)
Iordanis
Yorgos
Theodoros
Matthaios
Nikolaos/Nikos
Athanasios

Depends how 'authentic' you want to go i.e. whether you want actual Greek names in their native usage or whether you want names of Greek origin. If so, the above would read differently e.g. Theo instead of Theodoros etc and some others would be eliminated as they don't have english derivatives. Just give me a shout if you need more Grin

Leo Solonas

Love Alexandros and Athanasios as well.

I've got Leo James.
Leo Alexander sounds good.

Leo is becoming quite popular. I have 3 boys called Leo starting in my nursery class in September.

Just saying.....

Elenaki · 02/05/2012 21:53

Yes, I think Leo works as a middle name, especially if the first or surnames are long. Leo can definitely count as a name in itself, and is a very nice one.

If you want it to have Greek connotations then use Leonidas.

Other short(ish) Greek names

Ilias
Aris
Adamos (not v. common)
Loukas (you might like this if you like Leo - I love it)
Teo (I mentioned Theodoros earlier but forgot to say that some 'trendy' parents are now giving Teo as a nickname)

I am not sure if any of these go with the baby's first name. Do they?

You seem to really like Leo though - so i don't think you should have any qualms about using it as a middle name :)

NoCarbsBeforeBarbs · 02/05/2012 21:56

I LOVE Leo.

I have a Leo George

James does go very well but in our family our names are confusing, and to have James would just add to that! So George is in memory of my Grandad.

Just to add so random information for you, L-e-o can be found in many words as my 3 yr old keeps pointing out!

MamaBlues · 02/05/2012 22:30

First name is a two syllable name also ending in O and the surname is 3 syllable
